Western Front, Vancouver
This will be the Field Study show. It will be webcast for
all to see!

June 25: This is a double-bill with Erin McKeown.
Show starts at 7:30, and the cost is $8.
June 29: Veda will be doing a short opening set for this
great double bill. Showtime is 9 pm, and the cost is $10.
June 30: This is a house concert that will start at 8 pm.

U.S.

Lots of news this time around!!

Veda's new album, Field Study is set for release on April
5. This album was recorded in live performance at the Vancouver
East Cultural Centre last December.

To celebrate the release, Veda will be doing three nights at the VECC,
on April 5, 6, and 7.

Field Study is a collection of songs inspired by science and nature,
in part a result of her trip to the Yukon last summer. It may be
pre-ordered at A&B Sound, here.

A tour of the West Coast of the U.S. is in the works for late May/early
June. The only confirmed date so far is in Santa Cruz, CA
on Saturday, June 9, at EctoFestWest.

Stay tuned for details of some East Coast (U.S.) dates in the late spring/early
summer timeframe!

The December 17th Vancouver performance consisted of Veda alone at the
piano, performing her new "science and nature" series of songs in its entirety.
The performance was recorded, and we hope that means a new release sooner
rather than later...

Veda and Justin will tie the knot before the end of the month! On
behalf of all of her fans, best wishes to them both! :)

To help celebrate, Veda is throwing a three-night "Bachelorette Bash" at
The Railway Club in Vancouver. It kicks off on Thursday, 7 September
(tonight!) with Christine Fellows and Ford Pier also on the bill, before
Veda plays solo. Friday, 8 September will see Beekeepers along with
Veda and band, and Saturday, 9 September features Christine Fellows, Carolyn
Marks, and Christine Taylor along with Veda and band.

Starting July 13, Veda will head off to the Yukon with 9 other Canadian
artists as part of an expedition sponsored by the Yukon
Arts Centre. After two weeks of exploring the frontier, the artists
will be sent off with commissions to create art inspired by their experiences.

The Emily
Carr Institute's web page reports that Veda and her Skilled and Devoted
Band will be performing at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre on January
21, 2000 at 8 pm. Discounted tickets are available for $13 through
Emily Carr's Cultural Relations Office, (604) 844-3075.

Meanwhile, vedahille.com has been
undergoing further construction. The lyrics for the new album are
now online, and new merchandise (including t-shirts and the lyric book)
will be available soon.

Veda's fourth CD, You Do Not Live In This World Alone has
been released!!! The kickoff party was on September 11 at the Starfish
Room in Vancouver, and it was an incredible show for an amazing album.
Unfortunately, there are no plans for a U.S. release at this time.

Lounge in New York City will be webcast at www.liveconcerts.com
on Friday, January 8 at 9:30 pm EST (6:30 pm PST, 02:30 am GMT).
Michelle Lewis and Lucinda Williams are also on the virtual bill.

"Veda had a marvelous experience at her recent Living Room concert.
Her west coast tour begins this week, and Veda has a number of dates open,
on which she is willing to do a few more Living Room shows.
"She'll be in Olympia, WA on Friday, and San Fran in Monday (I think),
but she has Saturday and Sunday open this weekend (December 5 and 6).
In California, December 9, 13 and 15 are also open dates for her. (She's
performing at Gabah in L.A. on December 11 and at Java Joe's in San Diego
on December 12 [Elizabeth Hummel opens in SD]).
"If anyone is willing and able to put together a Living Room Tour show
for Veda in these areas on any of these dates, please call her agent, Patty
Romanoff, at (413)247-9308, and speak with Patty or Courtney about it."

The Vancouver dance company Mascall
Dance will present The Brutal Telling, the work for which they
commissioned Veda's Emily Carr cycle from November 25-28 at the
Firehall Arts Centre in Vancouver, BC. Veda and her Skilled And Obedient
Band will provide the live musical accompaniment. For more information

Mercury Lounge in New York City on November 19 will be webcast in its
entirety at liveconcerts.com

Announcing a new stop on Veda's Northeastern U.S. tour: my
living room in New Haven, CT! She'll be performing solo (and very
unplugged) on Friday, November 20 at 8:00 pm. Cost is $10
per person. For more info and/or to make a reservation, please e-mail
me by Wednesday, November 18.

Veda is currently on tour in Germany. The full-band U.S. tour
starts on Tuesday, November 17, with dates in Worcester, MA; Philadelphia;

Amy Jeffries interviewed Veda after her gig at CB's 313 Gallery in New
York City back on May 7, and the interview will air on WRTC 89.3 FM in
Hartford, CT on Sunday, May 24 sometime between 6:30 and 10:00 pm.

Veda was interviewed on Rita Houston's show on WFUV
in New York City on Thursday, May 14 at 1 pm. Sorry we didn't get
this news in time to make an announcement! WFUV does rebroadcast
interviews on Monday nights at 8 pm, and there's a good chance this one
will be on again in the coming weeks. We'll do our best to give you
warning next time. :) You can also keep an eye on the listings

Veda has been asked to fill in a vacancy for this month's installment of
WFUV's
Nightbirds
series at The
Bottom Line in New York City, on Thursday, May 21. The
original lineup called for Cindy Lee Berryhill, Lara Lavi, Patti Rothberg,
and Christine Taylor to be on the bill. Veda will be concentrating
on spoken-word and newer material. As always there are two shows,
at 7:30 and 10:30 pm. Tickets are cash-only in person at the Bottom
Line Box Office, and you can call (212) 228-6300 for more information.
(WFUV does have tickets available on their Concert Calendar for station
members.)

On Tuesday, May 19 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm Bottom Line Records will throw a
CD release party for Spine at the Canadian Consulate in New York
City. WFUV is giving away 5 pairs of tickets for station members

On Saturday, May 16 Veda will be providing the only live musical accompaniment
to the Connecticut Ballet's performance of Romeo and Juliet, at
the Palace Theater in Stamford, CT. She will perform one song.
Other music used in the performance will include recordings by Ani DiFranco,
Dar Williams, and Sarah McLachlan, among others. There will be two
performances, at 2pm and 8 pm. Tickets are $40 for orchestra &
grand tier, $20 for mezzanine, and $10 for students & seniors. For
