["Rob Schiferl, Jr. - Carthage" Subject: Re: sycophant "No Elephants" already available on badmanrecordingco.com! In case you didn't get the early order from Badman Recordings, Lisa's latest, "no elephants" is out to major retailers as of a few days ago. IMO the sound quality of the CD is the way to go, but if you favor the convenience of a digital download, guessing it is at iTunes / AmazonMP3 / GooglePlay etc. at this point. Just ordered the CD from Amazon. Look forward to it showing up in a couple days! Lisa mentions writing her to get the lyrics for that album: http://www.lisagermano.com/news.html Since this list stays so quiet, and 2012 has passed, how about passing along your favorite musical discoveries of 2012, any genre. I've benefited greatly from music suggestions on this list over the years, still keep Calexico, Godspeed You Black Emperor and Neil Halstead bootlegs from Live Music Archive in semi-regular rotation, for example. ***My 2012 fave musical discoveries*** ** Emily Wolfe - Directors Notes: Relatively unknown Austin, Texas-based, her debut is incredible and the recording quality is unbelievably warm. Hands-down one of the best songwriters I've encountered through the years. She reminds me of a lot of accomplished indie-leaning women musicians, but not any one specifically. Definitely recommend the CD to soak in the sound-quality of this recording (mentioned the sound quality twice, it is that audiophile imo), but you can check out a free download of the album on NoiseTrade right now, click the album cover to download: http://noisetrade.com/emilywolfemusic Show some Facebook love with a like at https://www.facebook.com/emilywolfemusic Makes a huge difference for emerging musicians to bump up those social media counts, 717 Facebook likes at the moment. ** Michael Shynes: From cold, cold Minnesota (near the Twin Cities if anyone lives around there and can catch him live). He has some of that beach sound/flavor of Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Ed Sheeran, Ben Howard, etc. but there's something distinct about him to my ears. Voice is fairly unique. I have his 18-track CD "Lifelines" which is all originals. You can stream it and/or buy it at http://michaelshynes.bandcamp.com/ (note alac is a lossless format that plays natively in iTunes) or buy it in the usual places. If you want to download some free tracks, he has a collection of covers at NoiseTrade: http://noisetrade.com/michaelshynes/covers Again, he's indie/emerging, so consider showing some Facebook love at https://www.facebook.com/michaelshynesmusic to help him bump those important social media counts. Facebook likes 1677 at the moment. ** Dawn Mitschele: San Diego, California based. She absolutely blew me away only partway into the first song I heard, and that opinion grew as I kept listening. There's a stream of her EP at http://dawnmitschele.bandcamp.com/album/love-remains-ep I highly recommend this YouTube playlist to get a feel for her music and musicianship http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhGv24w3KXs&playnext=1&list=PL3EE96CF8F11AA9F7Guessing you can buy her tunes in the usual places, still need to pick up some of her work on CD. Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/dmitschele and support her with a like, at 1556 at the moment. Covered a lot of the geography here in the States with those three, but I guess I missed the East Coast. Fellow Lisa Germano fans, what are your favorite musical discoveries of 2012?
