Thanks. A few more concerts to download to bring more enjoyment to the workday. Any specific concert recommendations for those bands? (I miss the "most downloaded" link to get a sense of the wisdom of the diehard fans.) Anyone else? Other band recommendations? http://www.archive.org/browse.php?collection=etree&field=%2Fmetadata%2Fcreator I'm not concerned about band recommendations that don't sound like Lisa. We all have varied tastes, I'm sure, but the key is that we all have **at least some good taste in music** given that we are Lisa fans :) I'll toss in a plug for two back-to-back concerts by The Decemberists which have had heavy rotation in my music player lately: The Long of It: http://www.archive.org/details/decemberists2007-10-28.c34.flac16 (Includes a cover of Pink Floyd's Echoes which is quite enjoyable.) The Short of It: http://www.archive.org/details/decemberists2007-10-29.c34.flac16 These were the opening concerts for The Long of It and The Short of It tour. The premise is that they'd play a concert with long songs one night, then a concert again the next night at the same venue with short songs. The sound quality for these two concerts is incredible. Had a friend burned these for me, I probably wouldn't have guessed they were audience recordings. For anyone on the list not familiar with converting FLAC and other archive files to wav, mp3, etc., the open source MediaCoder is a free Windows tool that does the trick quite well: http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/ I haven't tried MediaCoder with the SHN files somewhat common on Internet Archive (not sure if it supports SHN files), but mwkACT does fine in Windows XP (Vista???) for converting SHN files to wav: http://etree.org/mkw.html (There are Mac tools for this, too, but I do my downloading and converting in Windows, burn to CD as a back-up, and load it on the Mac.) If you liked GYBE, then try the offshoot band - Silver Mt. Zion There's a few superb Calexico shows up there too. Neil Halstead is pretty good...moody songs a la Nick Drake...and his band Mojave 3. Charlotte Martin - if you like the female/piano/singer/songwriter thing in the Tori vein Kristen Hersh / Throwing Muses / 50 foot wave Hem (kinda like Cowboy Junkies, who can also be found in the archive) On 10-Sep-08, at 07:23 , Rob Schiferl, Jr. wrote: > Great!
