When he was introducing the band he made special mention that lisa had her own album coming out. Then a few years later I saw Happiness (4 AD version) in the store and remembered her so I bought it. I thought it was going to be an instrumental album and was surprised when I heard her singing: "you wish it was sunny but its not, ha ah ha." Ive been hooked ever since. I've seen her 4 times now. Each time has been great. Paul Yahoo! Said to my friend who worked in the the shop: - that was not Lisa Gerrard! - No, but did you like it? He was a fan already. So I was hooked and played it almost every day. - The same guy is a big fan of Throwing Muses and 4AD, one day he showed me a case of 4AD vinyl just came in. As my eyes got bigger he said, - come behind the counter and I dug out 10 LPs. - A good customer, he said, 120$ for all. The few left were sold for 16$ . . So maybe its his fault that the shop had to give up some years later... Why I like it? The rather personal lyrics, kind of unsual use of instruments. And in the beginning, during a difficult period, I only played the song Happiness and some tracks by Loop, music that goes in "loops", but later I got into the the early albums. Mostly about emotions and inner experience, which is impossible to put into words. She is just more personal than other artists. I saw her at La Zona Rosa when she opened for the Latin Playboys where, like the show you described, the audience totally changed from her set to theirs. During Lisa's set, many of her fans, who were all cozied up to the stage, turned to glower at the raucous behavior of the Latin Playboys fans who were just getting drunk and killing time until their band came on. Lisa didn't glower, though. Maybe just cause she's sweet, or maybe because she would be getting on stage to accompany the Playboys, and wanted only good will between her and their fans.
