(I am actually still a fan to a degree, although I haven't bought any of his records since Big Daddy.) Anyway, I always thought his band were top notch players and Lisa always made a big impression ... especially on The Lonsome Jubilee. Anyway, I was browsing my local Tower and I came across Lisa's Happiness, the Capitol version. It absolutely blew me away. I've been a resolute fan ever since and have done everything in my power to spread the happiness. I can remember, in particular, of forcing most of my friends to listen to Geek the Girl. Some got it, some didn't. Such is life! :) (In my defense, Lisa, and artists of her ilk are more representitive of my musical tastes than Mr Mellencamp.) - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address. My wife knew Lisa 20+ years ago, when Lisa was playing with an Indiana band, Frank Haney and the Farmers. This was before Lisa's John Mellencamp days, of course. Many years later, my wife would be watching a Mellencamp video on MTV or VH1 and would say, "Hey, there's Lisa Germano - I know her". I'd say, "Uh-huh, that's nice, dear." Then I heard Lisa (Way Below the Radio) on Spinner.com, and I was hooked forever. She sent me a copy of Moon Palace when it came out and we did the first of several interviews for the newspaper- and I later met her for a memorable evening of clubhopping (we saw the Hammerheads who originally recorded John's song "Get A Leg Up") I've followed her career ever since- though I haven't spoken to her since she relocated to LA... - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Wigell" To: Sent: Tuesday, August 05, 2003 6:39 PM Subject: Re: sycophant Question for the list > > Question for everyone: > > > > How did you get turned on to Lisa's music?
