I think I was misled by the fact that the 100 Club doesn't *look* like punk was born there -- if you've ever been to CBGB in NYC, the difference is pretty striking... dirt as decoration. And I agree that the London pub laws are ridiculous, but in this case it worked for me. One of the problems I have with seeing bands in clubs is that they *do* start at 1 am or whatever. It's a great way to insure that the only people who see you are students, waiters and waitresses, other musicians and the unemployed, but it does leave those of us who get up early at a disadvantage. Particularly those of us who are, um, less younger than they used to be...
