Who knows, we might be able to give each other some interesting suggestions. My favorite albums by Lisa is Geek, by other artists are: The Dreaming by Kate Bush; Under the Pink by Tori Amos; The Musician by Jennifer Terran; Soul Poison by Hannah Fury; Many Worlds Are Born Tonight by Happy Rhodes; Blue by Joni Mitchell; Night Bugs by Sarah Slean; Stories From... by P J Harvey; Color Moving And Stilll (produced by Jay Joyce) by Chantal Kreviazuk; Supposed Former... by Alanis Morissette... to name but a few ;) I'm curious to hear what you guys and gals are into... I don't know of anyone who has a problem with it, and you are right - we do get turned on to some interesting stuff that we may not have known about otherwise. In heavy play at our place lately: Lisa's Lullaby, of course The Capital "Happiness" (I only recently got it - I'm not as good a collector as some of y'all) Hope Sandoval/Mazzy Star Cat Power Are we allowed to mention guys? Beck Jeff Buckley Suggie Otis and my favorite dirty little secret, which I hope doesn't get me kicked of the list: Kylie Minogue. What can I say? She cheers me up. Can't mope ALL the time. She's playing San Francisco, Seattle, Portland and Eugene. See the link below for details: http://www.pollstar.com/tour/searchall.pl?By=Artist&Content=LISGER&PSKey=Y I'm seriously considering flying up for the Eugene show. I've never been to Oregon and it would be a great way to celebrate being out of school and having no commitments other than work. On the "what am I listening to besides Lisa" tip: 1. Jeff Buckley. I was lucky enough to see him play twice before he passed on and to meet him on my 21st birthday. He gave me a birthday kiss and hug and told me to "Blast it!" on my CD. A lovely man with an incomparable talent. 2. Joseph Arthur - Redemption's Son. Not sure I like this as much as his first CD, but we'll see. It's still absolutely fabulous. 3. Beck - Sea Change. Strangely my favorite Beck album ever. Maybe not so strange since it is a departure for him and I've never been really into him before. 4. Cat Power. Especially Moon Pix and You Are Free. You Are Free has been competing heavily in my CD player with Lullaby. 5. Tom Brosseau. Saw him open for Lisa and have been enjoying his CDs immensely. 6. Mirah. Excellent indie rock queen. Seattle sound with an ethnic Jewish slant. 7. Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Lush New York garage rock sound. 8. Weekend Players. Groovy chill out music. Jericho is my favorite track on their latest CD. 9. Thievery Corporation. More groovy chill out music but with more of an ethnic feel. 10. Elliot Smith. I'm a bit late on his self-titled second album but I lurve it to pieces. Needle In The Hay and The White Lady Loves You More are staggeringly good. 11. Neil Finn. He's never far from my CD player. Neil Finn, Radiohead, Lisa and Jeff Buckley are my all-time favorites. There's *tons* more but I'll try to restrain myself (a little). I love hearing what you all are listening to - some of my best discoveries come this way. Cheers, Christe __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier.
