Neil Finn was in town with his family to play several shows in the area and so it wasn't too surprising that he played a few secret shows at his favorite local spot, Largo (capacity 150). Lisa was up first and played a new song for her father which was written the day before because of an apparent operation he was having. It was beautiful. Neil Finn's son Liam then played a few songs before Jon did his main set. Lisa joined him at the end of the set to play her song "Paper Doll." That was lovely. Haven't seen them perform together in awhile. Later in the evening, Jon and Neil played a good, long (amazing) set together before Lisa joined them both for a cover of Neil Young's "Only Love Can Break Your Heart." By the way, if anyone has a recording of this show *that's* the song I want. Wow. After that, Robyn Hitchcock (who was in town for the Soft Boys tour) and Grant Lee Phillips joined Jon to finish off the night doing Beatles tunes (which later had Neil and Liam trading off on drums). Pretty amazing night of music but typical if you're a regular at Largo. In fact, the following night at Largo was even *better*... Got my three new Lisa CDs the other day. I like them all especially Concentrated. I like having all the 'hits' on one CD. And Denise's album is actually really good too. Very pretty. What else is everyone listening to these days?... just to keep this list moving ;) Candace - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address.
