Great to see her in concert again...it's been 5 years since I saw her last. I enjoyed the new songs, too - definitely something to look forward to with the new album. Wish she would have played some more "oldies," but that's okay. The first time I saw Lisa was at Luna Park in 1994...she had a 3-piece band accompanying her (bass, guitar, drums). She played lots of stuff off of "Happiness" that sounded great with a full band, so it was cool to see her with other musicians on stage last night. - --- Kenneth Thomas wrote: > Who here saw Lisa G at Club Largo? I thought she looked more comfortable last night than last month. It was nice to see her joined by some other fine musicians. David Garza played some bass (a pretty 6-string) and piano and something mysterious that looked like an air organ or strange organ of some sort. Denise Bonis played autoharp and also opened for Lisa, playing acoustic guitar and keyboard. A fellow named Patrick (I didn't catch his last name) whom Lisa had just met, played the mystery organ and something else, but I can't recall right now what it was. Flanigan played the mandolin on a song. It was great to hear such a rich backup of music for Lisa's songs. As mentioned, Lisa played piano most of the time, but played her Wonder Woman guitar, the six-string bass, an old green accordian, a recorder and the autoharp as well. She did a couple of songs I've never heard before, one that was written by Craig Ross (I think) whom she called her best friend and said he'd produced two of David Garza's CDs ("so it's all in the family"). The other was an old song of hers she said she'd dug up. It began "You change me, then you hate me" and talked about angels in the chorus. They were both quite excellent and I wish I knew what their names were. I loved hearing Singing To The Birds and The Darkest Night of All. And I think my favorite song from the new CD might just be From a Shell. I Love a Snot with Wendy Melvoin was a highlight. Wendy's a great guitar player, I always love to watch her play. Great show, lovely evening, I'm so glad I drove up for it. Christe - --- John Paul Tancredi wrote: > I'm not sure who the guests were by name.
