I don't know what happened to that guy. He just dissappeared it seems, but there is no reason why the tribute can't still happen! I have received some submissions and would like to get in touch with the artists that were originally involved. I am having a tough time tracking them down, (it was a few years ago!) I have recently compiled a Tribute to Syd Barrett cd. It is a Fan-Based tribute. I would like to do the same for Lisa. More submissions are needed! This is all not for profit. Issued free among the fans unless the proper arrangements can be made with Lisa, etc. Anyone interested in submitting a song, contact me off list please. See below Update - news flash! Just wanted to let everyone know that the "On A Distant Shore - A tribute to Syd Barrett" just received a very positive review on Splendid e-magazine: "[...] These days, Syd Barrett's art may sell largely on the basis of his madness, but his music was honest enough to truly earn and deserve a great tribute record. This is it." to see the rest of the review, go here: http://www.splendidezine.com/review.html?reviewid=32337723411011140 For further info, the url of the "On A Distant Shore" website is: http://www.popfloor.com/oads/ - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address. You don't necessarily need loads of talent or great equipment, as long as your version has feeling. Yes, that's the basic idea. I will compile them into a nice little collection for you and add some artwork. I've just recently finished doing one in the same vein for Syd Barrett: http://www.popfloor.com/oads/ This Can be done! I don't know what happened to "Friday" who was compiling it, but he had a good amount of submissions which would have been enough for one disc. Here is the url for the old site : http://www.apocalypse.org/~friday/psz/germano/ If I could combine everyone who is listed on this site with the "new" bands and artists who have recently sent me their cover versions, there would be More then enough material.
