["Rob SchiferlJr" Subject: re: sycophant Annoyance Rob, I share your sentiments - I would love to hear these songs you speak of. Heck, I'd go out of my way to purchase an EP (and will, indeed, re-purchase her past LPs which in re-release contain previously released EPs which I cannot find). There are some other Lisa songs out there which are likely easier to find. For example, on the RED,HOT, AND BOTHERED CD (a HIV/AIDS benefit compilation of alternative artists) you can find a Lisa song called "The Mirror is Gone." I'm guessing that this CD is still available in the US. It's an intriguing tune, kind of catchy. I converted it to MP3 so that I could occasionally click it on at work. (Yes, it is a legal copy :) ) No, I didn't attach it, but... Does anyone have a list of Lisa songs that don't appear on her own albums, i.e. from movie soundtracks, etc., along with what albums they do appear on? (I'm sure that this is in cyberspace somewhere, but if someone has such a list, I'm sure most of this listserv would appreciate a little knowledge-sharing.) (also) Rob - ---------- Original Text ---------- From: "R M Seeney" , on 07/16/2000 12:18 PM: Just to let you know if it hasn't already been posted sometime before that the long lost Lisa track 'Starfish' that features on the 'Pet Sounds' comp by vital cog (www.vitalcog.com) is also available on a fanzine cd (in the uk I think), details are currently up on the 4AD message board. Incidently, the person that runs the zine confirms that 'Starfish' is infact a 'Slide' out take and is just as wonderful as the unreleased 'Dreamland', also a 'Slide' out take. A little rummaging around on the net and I found there are infact a fair few unreleased Germano songs that were penned around the time of 'Slide', one of them interestingly is called, 'Ice Cream Truck', and another, 'Talk too much'. What annoys me is that a big question mark has already been put over the availability of Lisa's future music projects, but more so that there is already finished tracks sitting out there that no-one is ever gonna hear? Am I wrong, do these tracks feature eleswhere on compilation cds, or proper Germano lps?? If anybody out there has a copy, and CD-burning capability, I would more than enthusiastically discuss a trade. It was a promo single for radio and, therefore, not for sale. This is the tracklisting: 1. Cry Wolf (edit) 2. The Mirror is Gone (previously unreleased) 3. Cancer of Everything (remix) 4. Sexy Little Girl Princess (remix) At first I didn't think that the remixes were markedly different than what was on "Geek," but I took out my copy and played it and got reacquainted with it. The violin in "Cancer" and Lisa's vocals are more prominent and the song starts off differently. "Princess" also starts off differently...lots of drums and cymbals. The vocals are mixed differently and it's easier to discern the lyrics. As far as I know, these two remixes aren't available anywhere else, but finding a copy of this single isn't totally impossible. As I always do, I keep an eye out for Lisa rarities at the shops here in San Francisco and I buy them and then put them up for sale on the site at the price I paid plus shipping. I see this one turn up every so often and will grab it if I ever see it. I have seen it on eBay as well many times. I figured someone would mention the "Falling from Grace" soundtrack. Lisa is credited with writing two tracks: the very pretty "Bud's Theme" and "Little Children" (which is actually the same thing as the title track of "On the Way Down from the Moon Palace"). She also sings harmony backing vocals with John Mellencamp on "It Don't Scare Me None." I actually see the "Cry Wolf" single floating around more than I see copies of this CD. Hope this info is useful... - -- T. - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address.
