But the truth is for me anyway that Tori kinda intrigues me. She's got technical piano-talent, but as far as production goes, she's kinda weak, and the Bush-references are totally obvious. Her latest is really a piece of shit, I totally disagree with you Matt :o) People say that her first four records mirror the four elements, and if that's the case, then this Venus-thing mirrors plastic and bad perfume. And the video for Bliss is really just stupid. "Look at me look at me my fans are all looking at me". At first she dissed Alanis big time, and now she's completed a big tour with her? What's that? Pisses me off. But her tunes are nice, but if she's doing this Bush-plaguerism on purpose, shoot her. Choirgirl I quite like tho. But for anyone who has seen the sleeve-photographs with Tori in front of a group of people, you know what I mean when I say she's Queen of Pretentiousness. She never had me dreaming of landscapes and forests the way the Cocteaus did. There's an underlying "wrong" with Tori, no matter how catchy or nice the tune is, you just KNOW that you can't love her stuff 100% - that's the way I feel about it. - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address. Everything else she released seemed like a parody of herself. It's difficult to take anything she says (or sings) with any seriousness when she is so incoherent. I agree with those of you who noted her need to be worshipped. Unfortunately, her fans seem all too eager to provide this worship. It's amazing what a little marketing can do. And as a pianist, she is quite gifted. I went to her concert some time ago and felt it was the most boring and self-absorbed show I've ever seen. Some performers emote kindness and goodness, or at least the thought "I appreciate you coming here and paying these obscene ticket prices and putting up with this to see me." Tori emotes "You mean nothing to me, I'm going to buy additional property in London with your money, and you are so easily manipulated by my marketing machine you poor sad sheep." Every finger in the room is pointed at me They have come to worship cause that's the way it should be Got a million dollars in my pocket from all these ticket sales And a house in every country bigger than the biggest whale....
