As soon as everyone sends in the piece (recording) and I get a master copy created, I will know how much it will cost to duplicate. If possible, I would like to set a deadline of February 7 for everyone to get their recordings to me. I can accept regular tape, CD and Sony DAT (by traveling to various houses of friends). Time permitting, I should be able to get a master copy together by the end of Feb. and then start sending you all copies by the end of March. I have to do a bit of traveling in early March so I won't be around much. If everyone is okay with this, let's do it! Also, guys, when you send your pieces to me, I won't be able to afford to return them to you unless you provide a self addressed stamped envelop (or package). Wish I could but I can't afford lots of postage stuff (especially international). Please also include whatever information you want to have listed about yourself, your band, your recording. If you want, you can even include a picture of your group which I will scan in at work and provide with a little booklet to commemorate this exciting occasion. Please do not send nude photos! ;-) If there's anything I'm forgetting, please let me know! This is a group effort after all. And I hope I'm not stepping on Reid;s toes. Reid, if you're out there, you can still do this. If you just don't want to, that's cool. I'll still be your friend. Hope you're okay. And should we stay with the name "Stand Not Amazed"? Send your recordings to me at Joe Horne 32 Huntington Place Dr. Atlanta, GA 30350 If you are a freak or a stalker, please do not come and visit me. My dog will bite you hard and it will hurt for a long time. I thought of the possibility of a mixup with Lisa Gerrard, but John is correct that none of the bio material is accurate for her, either. Let me throw in two cents for Lisa Gerrard and Dead Can Dance. If anyone is not familiar with either, I would strongly recommend checking them out. (Lisa Gerrard is "half" of Dead Can Dance.) My personal favorite Dead Can Dance CD is TOWARD THE WITHIN; it is live, and definitely captures a live energy on disc. Lisa Gerrard's solo album THE MIRROR POOL is also awesome, but a bit less accessible than Dead Can Dance material. She has an incredibly strong voice. I'd start with TOWARD THE WITHIN. - ---------- Original Text ---------- From: , on 01/05/2000 8:13 PM: To: inet[] Not knowing very much about Lisa Gerrard and Dead Can Dance, I also considered the possibility that the Turning Into Betty site was making that error. I looked up all kinds of information about Lisa Gerrard and DCD on the Web and have drawn two conclusions: 1) DCD sound interesting and I need to listen more closely to some of their music, and 2) if accurate biographical information about Lisa Germano is the bullseye, and an enthusiastic but confused-with-Lisa-Gerrard bio on Lisa Germano is the outer area of the dart board, then the "Turning Into Betty team" (ha ha!) threw their dart straight into the pint glass of some guy sitting at the bar. Lisa Gerrard was born in Australia and apparently lives there today. She's also spent quite a bit of time living and working in Europe. As lovely and vital as she appears in photographs, I don't think she was born in 1969. No mentions of children, Texas, or a husband named Nick. I could go on, but you get the idea. So, we rule out Lisa Gerrard, but the mystery of a child, a ranch in Texas, and a husband named Nick lingers... Jendras" Subject: sycophant Turning into Betty Hi, sycophants! My compliments to the person (I've lost the earlier message) who managed to pose those questions to the "Turning Into Betty Team" without putting them on the defensive. The reply--like much of the web page content--was both amusing and disturbing. If Lisa became aware of that stuff, I'm not sure she'd be more likely to chuckle...or check her locks. The exchange with the "Team" reminded me of many attempted conversations with an old girlfriend who talked in her sleep a lot. Her responses to my queries were amazing amalgams of sense and nonsense that invariably raised even more questions than they answered. I felt the same perplexity when the Team helped "enlighten" us, but didn't provide any specific sources that could be checked out. "Street Beat", unfortunately, is a name shared by literally dozens of publications (some long since defunct) in the U.S. alone...so not much help there. Thanks for the glimpse into one helluva creative mind.
