When someone says something with her tongue in cheek, it's usually a joke that the speaker knows the listener/audience will "get" without too much explanation. (Sort of like in "Happiness," when Lisa says, "C'mon, everybody, sing" as though it's a happy sort of sing-along, when she then follows it up with the very un-sing-alongish line, "Pain and sadness are real to me ... "). Does that work as a definition of "tongue in cheek"? Does anyone on the list have a dictionary?
