The station is one of bigger supporters of Lisa's music in the country. Her in-studio appearance last year convinced me that she's one of the finest singer/songwriters of our time. I don't know if this has been mentioned but Lisa should partake in the recent trend of grass-roots promotions, taking her music to the people; or more specifically to people's living rooms. I'm sure some of you have heard of the growing trend of house concerts re-living the days of troubadours and trouverres but it's an old concept that actually works. Jane Siberry, Cindy Lee Berryhill, Jewel, Patty Griffin, Steve Poltz, Marcella Detroit, and others have all participated in them to great success and newer artists like Emm Gryner, Tara MacLean, and Susan James are in the works of scheduling them in their future concert itinerary. I've spoken with others like Jon Brion, Beck and Freedy Johnston and they love the idea. Depending on the size of the "venue," an artist can take home as much as $1500+ (not counting merch sales) -- which isn't bad for 1-2 hours of their time. And everyone wins... the fans and the artist. I've hosted a few of them in the past and they're pretty amazing (though a lot of work). Trust me, this isn't a crazy idea. Also, I'm interested in hearing the cover album whenever it's completed. ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it.
