I can't claim to know what all his songs are about (even Jeff Mangum says he can't always be sure) but I did see somewhere that he had read The Diary Of Anne Frank and it affected him tremendously. Hence: "The only girl I've ever loved was born with roses in her eyes but then they buried her alive on evening 1945..." You can plug her into a lot of the songs on In The Aeroplane and it makes sense. I'm a DJ here for KVMR and I'd like to do a radio show featuring just Lisa Germano and maybe some spin-offs. I usually broadcast in the wee hours of the morning but I'd be willing to tape it for anyone who's interested in covering my postage costs and the cost of the tape. I play a lot of Lisa anyway and maybe word will get out to her that she hasn't been forgotten on the airwaves. The station can also be picked up on the Internet at www.kvmr.org. I'm not the only DJ that plays her here by the way, I first heard her on this station around the time Happiness came out. The song was 'Little Cowboy' and I thought, boy that's sickingly sweet but there is something definitely there worth checking out! I've been hooked ever since. Her occasional backup musicians, Joey Burns and John Convertino, have played KVMR hosted shows here twice in the last couple of years, with Barbara Manning and Victoria Williams, respectively. I hope they will come back here someday soon with Lisa despite what she has said about leaving the business. Anyway, if anyone is interested in the show or if any of you Californians want to come up to Nevada City to help me do it let me know!
