I will try to answer you the best I can. I haven't been into Lisa's music for so long, so I only have two albums ("Geek the Girl" & "Slide"). As I see it, it's impossible to say which one I like the most. The two albums that I have are different from each other in expression, so one week I might think that the one is the best and the next week that the otherone is the best. So I can't really tell you that I like any of them best. Happiness makes my neck-hair stand on end, the lyrics, the violin-snippets on Bad Attitude, the very brilliant arrangements on Everyone's Victim, her voice.. Plus, the Watts-Russell-ish guitar-sounds before and after Puppet.. I think they sound a lot better on Happiness than they did on his own Blood-record, although Blood is a very beautiful as well. I have it like this: For my blue mood I like: Excerpts from a love circus For my depression mood I like: Geek the girl For all moods: Slush (OP8) and Angels turn to devils on Anon compilation For my happiness mood I like : Happiness (surprise) For my "recall my childhood and generally joyous mood" I like: Slide For open-ness and receive something new mood: On the way down from the Moon palace (I just recently bought it) I don't even try to categorize these albums in music directions or sounds. My sister in law hears some Susanne Vega and Cranberries sounds when I am playing Lisa. For myself Lisa is something quite special, I have to admit reluctantly though that when I listen to When I think of love on Slide it reminds me of an old organ player playing vigorously on his pump organ in a small icelandic country church - but it does´nt stop me in liking this song :-) Vigfus thes44@hotmail.com on 25.03.99 13:55:08 Please respond to sycophant@smoe.org To: sycophant@smoe.org cc: (bcc: Vigfús Erlendsson) Subject: Re: sycophant The Toughest Question Content-type: text/plain; charsetÿ-ascii Yeah, thoese questions are always hard. Maybe I should add to my last comment that I listen to Lisa's music in all kind of moods. Sometimes I play one of her albums more than the others - sometimes (and even more often) I play them all in succession, (the sequence difffering though). I just find her music and lyrics fantastic and don´t seem to lose my appetite for it as it sometimes happens with other musicians. Vigfus p.s The only other artist that is getting my attention similar to Lisa these days is Liz Phair (if I get it right she unfortunately has been warming up for Alanis Morisette recently whom so many on this mailing list apparantly dislike - the warming up should in worst case have been reversed if I understand the feelings of many of you ) - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address.
