Are they good? According to http://cvb.drawbridge.com/splashdown/goingson.html two Splashdown tracks will be appearing in the soundtrack to the film Clubland. The songs "Pandora" and "Paradox" from the Stars and Garters album will be appearing in the Intrepid Entertainment film, which will be released to theaters on April 16, 1999. The soundtrack CD is available in stores on March 23, and features an alternate version of the song "Paradox" (now called "Games You Play"). Splashdown recently were at Capitol Records recording an album called Blueshift with producers Glen Ballard and Bryan Carrigan. (Blueshift features 15 tracks and will be released August 10, 1999. ) [Honeycave] Someone on this list had mentioned the swedish group Honeycave (http: //listen.to/honeycave). They also have a song in the Clubland movie. a brief bio (from the homepage): "Singer & violinist found two little boys in a basement. They played guitar, like little boys often do - and Honeycave was concieved, named after a character in an adult comic strip. Two years ago Honeycave found their ideal line-up and set out on a mission of passion. Since then they have released the album "Come Now", won the bizzare event called the Alternative Eurovision Song Contest in London with the song "Shag", Played at Johnny Depp's club the Viper Room in L.A, and had a radio hit with "Beautiful Boy with Ugly Teeth. The latter is featured on the sountrack of the American film "Clubland" (to be released April 99), in wich the band also appear briefly. DJ Jed the Fish at K.R.O.Q. radio in L.A. took "Shag" to his heart. "Sweet Amnesia", another track from the album, is featured in the Korean film "Bye June", and "Come Now" was released in Asia in Spring 98. Honeycave write their songs, design their sleeves and make their own videos. The only thing they don't do is sucking themselves off. That's probably why they're in a band in the first place. Sister Midnight-Personal Assistant " [Clubland movie] There seems to be lot of jive about this **Clubland** movie too. They have their own homepage: http://www.clubland-movie.com/ Does anybody have an opinion on this movie. Vigfus p.s. So I bring this again in a little shorter version: There exists a music-video with OP8 performing Sand (from the Slush CD). Sand is an old Lee Hazelwwod/Nancy Sinatra duet. In OP8's version the Lisa is singing the text sung Lee Hazelwood and Howie Gelb is singing Nancy's part. This music video was shown several times in a music program on the Icelandic State Television (RUV) here in Iceland and also on several occasions between programs. There has been some mentioning of Lisa performing on music TV and/or videos. I wonder where I can get hold of this music video and eventually some other music videos with Lisa - does anybody know? Vigfus - Iceland p.s. the Sand video I will of course check at RUV stiansandberg@hotmail.com on 10.03.99 18:34:35 Please respond to sycophant@smoe.org To: sycophant@smoe.org cc: (bcc: Vigfús Erlendsson) Subject: sycophant OP8 is... >OP8? What is that? never heard of it. OP8 is a music project conducted by members of Giant Sand/Calexico (did i spell it correctly?), with Lisa "guest-performing". They released the album Slush in 97 (i think it was 97). I haven´t heard the album, so i´m sure there are other people out there who could tell you more. But while we´re on the subject : I´ve seen the track-list from Slush, and it´s got a couple of songs from Slide - are these the same ones (except that they´re done by different people of course)? - - S Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address. I just bought Polydistortion with GusGus (4AD label) and am listening to it as I am doing my middle of the night net-surfing and e-mailing. Haven't quite decided yet if I like it - there are songs like Believe , Polyesterday and Why? that I find quite good, especially Why? is quite catching. I would not categorise Polydistortion as dance-music - perhaps more techno/ambient? I am not so good in this categorisation. Any opinion? GusGus also recently released a single, Ladyshave. Ladyshave (the song and music video I mean) is quite popular here in Iceland at the time beeing. I find Ladyshave more in the dance-music genre. A LP is planned in april or may. VIgfus p.s.
