But after listening to it several times I found it growing better and better. Slide is now #1 hit on my cd-player for the last 3 months. Songs like Way below the radio, No colour here, Electrified, Crash, Wooden floors, Turning into Betty, Guillotine and Reptile have taken my mind and heart. I am still listening also to her previous CD's (and to other artists of course) but my opinion is that Slide is an experience that grows. It gets me in a mood I haven't experienced since David Bowie's early records (hard to explain such feelings -huh?) I can fully support Colin Holme's opinion in his short review on Slide on CDnow (http://www.cdnow.com/ - search for Lisa Germano, unfortunately there is a copyright on this review so I don't bring it here) A little bit about other artists: I have been listening to Eels: Electric Shock Blues and I quite like it. Good music and texts. I also bought some records recently whose band names I picked up from the sycophant list: His Name IS Alive: Ft. Lake and Swedish band Komeda: What makes it go? They are both good, but at the time beeing I am more fond of Ft. Lake and would recommend anyone to buy it. I also got Howe Gelb's Hisser. It's rather slow paced and has'nt quite cougt me yet, but I expect I will have to listen to it several more times to really grab it. At last I bought John Mellencamp: The best that I could do 1978-1988. I am also growing to like him - somehow I completely missed him at the time he was making this music. greetings from Iceland Vigfus - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant If you gave an infinite number of monkeys an infinite number of computers, they would all get AOL accounts and send unsub messages to the list address. The pairing of Joe Gore and Lisa Germano is perfect. I've always admired Joe Gore's work with Tom Waits. Like Waits, Lisa is is beginning to explore new soundscapes and musical textures which compliment her simple, almost sing-songy melodies. Besides Waits and PJ Harvey is anyone familiar with other Joe Gore recordings? I understand he has a record out of his own but I haven't been able to find it.
