It was so amazing to see artists who I really love (Gail Ann Dorsey, Lisa, Josephine Wiggs) being backed up by a full - and really good - band. The Indigo Girls have always struck me as being a bad poetry band, but they kind of rocked last night. I guess I forget how long they've been playing together. My favorite moment of the night came when Emily from the Indigo Girls was singing one of her sad songs and the very freaky Jean Smith of Mecca Normal started doing this rap section about horses and blood and stuff - that had nothing to do with the original song. She stole the show, definitely. And Jane Siberry's voice was miked so well ... Lisa sang two songs from the new record - "Wood Floors" and that one about being way below the radio. She also sang co-lead on the Breeders' "Cannonball," which brought down the house. Throughout the night, she played violin, mandolin, piano and, I think, some guitar. She was so cute! She was smiling and happy, and joked around a lot. When Jane Siberry said that her favorite song of the tour was a Lisa song, Lisa said, "Yeah, which one?" When Jane stammered, Lisa very sarcastically said, "Yeah, right!" ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com - ------- The Ectophile's Guide to Good Music: http://www.smoe.org/ectoguide/ - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant ------------------------------ End of sycophant-digest V3 #88 ****************************** ======================================================================== Please send any questions or comments about the list to sycophant-owner@smoe.org
