As the eels begin work on their next album, the band is sidetracked by the good and the bad. The good: They are covering a Tricky song with Lisa Germano guesting for a soundtrack, and wrote another song for yet another soundtrack. The bad: the band's bassist Tommy (another no- last- namer) has decided to leave the band. A spokesperson for eels says that the departure of Tommy was a "mutual parting of the ways due to a difference in goals" and that E will likely handle bass duties for the album, which is being produced by Mike Simpson of the Dust Brothers for DreamWorks/DGC. As for the Tricky song, the band is covering his song "Suffocated Love" from Maxinquaye for inclusion on the soundtrack to Half Baked, due Jan. 13 on MCA. The song, produced by Tricky, will feature Germano on vocals and possibly bass. According to eels' manager John Carter of Stereotype Management, E met Tricky during Lollapalooza and wanted to work with him. In addition, eels penned a new song called "Dog's Life" for the soundtrack to Welcome to the Woop Woop, which is from the creator of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. It's due in early 1998 on Universal. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com - ------- To unsub, mail majordomo@smoe.org with the message: unsubscribe sycophant ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Nov 1997 00:23:32 -0700 From: Ching Li Subject: sycophant Lisa Germano and Eels well I begging that this gets throught. . .THis just in I found out today as I checked my mail.
