I had a great seat just to the right of center in the dress circle. Since it wasn't the floor, nobody stood up during the concert except to clap between songs (although there was one girl two rows down from me who would jump up for about 2 seconds during her favorite parts of certain songs to shake her booty - haha). So at the end of the show, my thighs ached (and still do, but that's probably also from all the driving back and forth) from the tension because I just bounced my legs a lot to sort of dance in my seat and sat so far forward in my seat sort of bent over so I could feel as close as possible that all my weight was on my thighs. The girl to my right was rather still and quiet, so I thought she didn't like the concert, but at the end, I saw her crying and hugging her boyfriend, so I guess she really loved it. The guy to my left was an older man who chatted my ear off between songs, asking me Tori questions, and he danced in his seat just about as much as I did, which wasn't that much because it's just so hard to do without being annoying to others. I think he was a new fan dragged there by his wife and two 20-something daughters. He looked to be about 50-something and was very handsome and professional-looking. When Tori came out on stage first as her character Santa (the one with the short platinum bob), he was like, "She's hot! She's over 40?!" Tori (as Santa) wore a short, strapless, little black dress and was just as sassy and sexy as she could possibly be. When Tori changed and came out as herself, she was wearing her American flag sequined one-piece jumper. She had a good time. I just wish I could have stood and danced during "Raspberry Swirl," "Take to the Sky," "Cornflake Girl," "Big Wheel," "She's Your Cocaine," and "Hootchie Woman" without obstructing the view of the people behind me. You'd think everyone would have at least stood for the very last song, the last encore, "Bouncing Off Clouds," but no. I swear, I think I will just be crushed if I don't get a close-up floor seat for the next concert because those people looked like they were having a blast and I was really jealous! If my memory serves, Tori got the loudest cheers for "Sugar" and "Northern Lad." During the costume change, the crew changed out the keyboard and replaced it with her harpsichord, so I thought we might hear her do "Caught a Lite Sneeze," "Blood Roses," or "Talula," but no such luck. She used it temporarily during "Bells for Her" and during half of "Hotel" (which was the most unexpected song she performed, but it was stunning and very well done. I think a lot of the audience forgot how the song ends because they started clapping way too early. Whoops!). Oh, and she improvised a new verse during "Take to the Sky" about her husband always wanting to "take it from her," taking it from her in the morning before the kids go to school, in the afternoons before the football games start, etc. It was rather funny. I have to say I enjoyed the concert much more than I had expected. It was just as good as any other concert I'd ever been to. The character thing didn't take away from it... well, I did think the whole act of going around to pour the guys drinks was a little too cutesy and dramatic and took too long, but other than that, the concert was fantastic. Wish I could see more concerts on this tour, but I cannot miss work as much as others can. Oh, well. Here is the setlist she played (which I swiped from Undented): Act I Santa * Body and Soul * She's Your Cocaine * Hoochie Woman * Carnival * Secret Spell * Raspberry Swirl Interlude (Professional Widow - the BT mix version, but the band played it live while Tori's voice recording of "gotta be big" was played via Memorex -- haha) Act II Tori * Big Wheel * Sugar * The Power of Orange Knickers * Cornflake Girl * Bells for Her * Take to the Sky T & Bv * Beulah Land * Smells Like Teen Spirit Band Returns * Northern Lad * Hotel * Code Red First Encore * Precious Things * Digital Ghost Second Encore * Bouncing off Clouds ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V12 #100 **************************************
