I got row E, around 15-20 minutes into the sale, after seeing the evil red message of death the entire time. If you keep at it, you might get lucky too and pull up some tickets that someone else was "just looking" at and they get recirculated into the pool 15 minutes or so after people cancel out on them. not quite as fast as Ticketmaster does their recirculation, but plenty of people throw back seats, sometimes even very good ones. Then again, you may get nothing and be totally screwed like most people out there, and that really really sucks. I've spent my entire day attempting to get tickets for myself and a couple of other people who can't be at a computer today and it's very very frustrating. Just EXTREMELY slow shitty MS servers and endless errors! The really ought to have used Oracle like Amazon.com uses and the fucking thing wouldn't bog down. I remember that the most difficult thing about learning Oracle performance tuning is that you need to create tons of traffic to get even a 1% delay in the wait states. Whatever they are using seems to have a 1000000% slow down. Are they running it on a Pentium II at 25 MHz with 128MB RAM or what! P.S. - Having less than 512 MB or your machine is slowing down under Windows. 256 MB is enough to avoid major delays but anything less and any significant delays are from a lack of memory. 90% of all performance problems are a lack of system memory. ALWAYS upgrade the memory first. I use 768 on this old Athlon system and 1 GB or my laptop. Servers should always be maxed out to at least 2 or 4 GBs but using Windows 2003 or Linux with 32GBs is better. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Feb 2005 14:44:30 -0800 From: shaman@comcast.net Subject: Seattle date went to sold out Tickets sold through this online outlet for this event are SOLD OUT. Basically, all one can do it keep trying and be persistent. Follow that advice all the way to concert time and you will almost certainly be rewarded. You want a secret? That's it. Don't *talk* about wanting tickets, SEEK THEM at every opportunity. When I say be persistent, I mean keep trying the ticket sellers, TM or whomever, right up to and including the day of the concert, and if nothing presents itself by then, go to the venue and the box office will turn up something, or someone will come to the concert with the ticket(s) their friend(s) didn't buy when they said they would, and they'll be trying to get at least *some* of their money back by selling it (or them) to *you*. If you haven't scored a ticket by a couple hours previous to the start time of the concert, you'll need to make your needs known in some fashion. I'll leave that to you to work out according to the situation in which you find yourself. If this were like buying orange juice at the corner grocer, we wouldn't be having this conversation. It's not, and we are. This is like the old joke, "How do I get to Carnegie Hall?" Practice, practice, practice; keep at it. I note that this time the venues are smaller, and the demand is going to exceed the supply of tickets more so than it often has in the past. If one stops to consider when the next likely solo tour might happen, I think it's a no-brainer that it's worth the effort necessary. No one ever likes this answer if they're looking for the Special Answer Book of Buying Tickets, but if there's a brilliant alternative to what I've described, I have yet to hear of it. Just do the work. End of answer. Good luck to all. Just got back from seeing her at the 92nd St. Y. Somehow these artists always manage to get me in a pensive, creative mood. Although she didn't play, she did have a lot of great stuff to say, and Ann Powers was entertaining as well. I was also sitting about 10 feet away from Tori, so it was pretty cool. I don't expect to ever sit that close at a concert, so I'm glad I got the opportunity to see her. As usual, she was dressed very...uniquely. And I might be wrong about this - maybe someone else who sat up close can tell me - her shirt looked like it had a similar black bee design going across right above her chest. I may have just been seeing things though? Only the pre-sale tickets are sold out, not the whole event. Pre-sales have some constrained number of tickets available, usually in all seating sections (for events that have seats with different prices). It appears that these pre-sales had a very small handful of tickets available for each of the shows. Once they ran out of tickets, they just listed it as sold out instead of adding more unsold tickets. So there will be tickets available for each of these events for their public on-sale date. Whether they'll be good seats remains to be seen. Often, pre-sales don't necessarily get the best seats, although we've certainly seen some folks here reporting very nice seats. I wouldn't give up hope that the best seats are all gone just because of the pre-sale, especially given the very small number of tickets that were available (or, at least, appear to have been available). /nm ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Feb 2005 12:36:20 -0500 From: jeff albertson Subject: tori / orlando on ticketmaster Tori Amos Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre, Orlando, FL Sun, Apr 3, 2005 08:00 PM

This is how I intake a new Tori CD: I listen to about 1/3 of each song, frantically changing to see what the next song is like. It's as if I'm trying to gobble it all up, wanting to hear it all practically simultaneously. I cannot stand to sit through a song for a whole three minutes or whatever it takes when I want to hear the sound of the next one. I irritate myself. That's just how it is. The ones that grabbed me upon first listen are these (and I rate them in order of preference on just the first listening. This will change as I listen to the album again and again): 1. Cars and Guitars 2. Hootchie Woman 3. Ireland 4. The Power of Orange Knickers 6. Sweet the Sting 7. Jamaica Inn 8. Barons of Suburbia 9. I have perpetual goosebumps listening to this record. Everyone seems to be liking the catchier ones better. Does anyone feel the same way I do about these two songs? Toast is beautiful too.
