Hi Chris! Welcome to Prescious Things and congratulations on your recent discovery of Tori Amos!! I'm soooo happy for you!! Enjoy... Tony What's more likely? That an all-powerful mysterious god created the universe and then decided not to give any proof of his existence? Or, that he simply doesn't exist at all? And that we created him so that we wouldn't have to feel so small and alone. -Eleanor Arroway, Contact ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Apr 2003 15:23:04 +0200 From: "Conny Tear in your hand" Subject: Re: august tori tour news! im searching the quote..if I found it..I will tell u (reminds me on...LIVE TO TELL - does someone know where I can download a good version of it? i mean...played by tori....and from THIS tour..?) conny ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "You can only be you but a lot of times it's not enough for people." - Tori Amos _________________________________________________________________ Immer auf dem Laufenden mit den Mobile & Telekom News auf MSN! http://www.msn.at/mobil ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Apr 2003 11:48:06 -0400 From: Mikewhy Subject: Tori coming to Meadow Brook Music Festival near Detroit, Mi on August 15th! We have another summer concert date! If you check out palacenet.com you will see that they have Tori Amos with special guest Ben Folds listed for Friday, August 15, 2003 at Meadow Brook Music Festival on the campus of Oakland University in Rochester Hills, MI (near Detroit) . Thanks to Mel who first told me about this! The web site says tickets are $39.50 pavilion and $29.50 lawn and will be available through the series package on Sunday, April 27, 2003 at noon. Individual tickets will be sold later. Series tickets can supposedly be purchased at Palacenet.com and The Palace Box Office . Series tickets may also be charged by phone to American Express, Discover, Visa and MasterCard by calling (248) 377-0100 . I think most Toriphiles though will want to wait until the individual show goes on sale later... Hi Chris, Welcome back to Earth! I guess you could say I'm a devout Toriphile / EWF. I just caught my 24th Tori show, here in SoCal. First, yes, Tori as in "story". Second, the sheet music you mention is (I THINK!!!) available. I have LE, UTP, FTCH, and an interesting one called The Bee Sides. It includes these songs: Baltimore (her first 45, as a teenager!!!) Black Swan Butterfly Daisy Dead Petals Etienne Floating City Flying Dutchman Here. In My Head Home On The Range: Cherokee Edition Honey Humpty Dumpty Mary Ode To The Banana King (Part 1) Sister Janet Song For Eric Sugar Sweet Dreams Take To The Sky It also has amazing artwork from Pauline Stuckey (one print for each song!). Next, there is an excellent video (tape) from Atlantic called "Little Earthquakes", with some great videos, live footage, and interview footage. It's got a very emotional part where Tori is talking about "China", and the boy she wrote it for, and how she never plays that song anymore. (Thank God she changed her mind, I've seen her play it five or six times!) I haven't watched it for a while, but (I THINK!) it also has some great outtakes where Tori is being smashed by waves while trying to play a stone "piano", and some very humorous comments during the credits. I don't know if it is still available, but it shouldn't be too hard to find on eBay or something. As for UK touring, she seems to like it there in the Winter time. I'm not an expert on that - My apologies if any of my remarks are inaccurate! Please don't flame me! For what it's worth, IMHO, I think Tori is touring so feverishly right now because she is running out of time in a way. She has a little girl who is starting to turn into a person now, saying things like (paraphrasing!) "Mommy, can't you tell them you can't play tonight?". Ouch. Can you imagine your little girl saying that to you? I think she might pull a John Lennon and quit touring for a while to raise her daughter. I hope that's not the case, but think about it. I say get it while you can! Anyway, there's some actual information and some unsolicited opinions for you. I hope it's helpful! I happily agreed, as I love spreading the music that has filled my soul for 11 years now. But I wondered - which songs are best for a first time listener? I'm biased, since I've been a fan for so long and can only hear some songs a certain way (whether they remind me of a person in my life, or an event, etc.). So, this is where you guys come in. Could anyone suggest which songs would be the best for a first time Tori listener? I have all the albums and B-sides. Any and all suggestion are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
