I wanted to say thanks to everyone who commented on my posts!!! IT means I'm not really getting ignored. Anyways, it's the first issue of Twist. It just came out. When i came back to Malaysia...I went to CA for the summer...I was really disappointed, because Jewel wasn't even playing on the radio stations yet! I really like listening to her on the radio...I think it's because it's cool to hear your favorite singer be able to get played on the radio!!! :) I'm going to give a jewel CD to my friend here, I'm sure she'll like it. Maybe she'll go crazy over it and join EDA!!! That would be so cool, huh? Oh! Thanks for posting the "Flower" lyrics. I know it wasn't for me...but it was great to know the lyrics! :o) THANKS! That's what's good about posting stuff on the list. I've noticed something. Jewel kind of curls her tounge when she sings sometimes. Like in the second last line in "morning Song". WhaT was it? 'give you some more' She kind of curled in the end. But that just makes her more better to me! Actually, David...I don't think calling ourselves EDA is a problem. Besides, Jewel knows our name and she isn't saying anything bad about it!!! I'm thinking about learning the guitar. JEWEL IS SO INSPIRING!!! Then, i could play Jewel's songs! i think that will be so cool! But htere isn't a single guitar teacher here! I'm SO SO SO doomed! Anyone think learning it at home is okay? Yum! I just took a bite out of a Snickers. That is so heavenly!!! i mean, when was the last time I had one? Half a year I think. ACK! GOD those mosquito bites are so NOT heavenly!!! I put some of that weird medicine on it. It smells really funny in my room now. I've got to go now! You know, spray perfume around the room. BYE! Y'all! Actually, if you're planning on getting a guitar, don't always look towards brand new ones. The longer a guitar has been played, the more it is broken in, and the more it's broken in, the better it sounds. It sounds like her and those are her songs. I somehow like to be heard. So when she sings a song I like or a part of a song I like, I scream wildly! Not to be disrespectful, but to BE respectful. It should be expected, especially at larger venues. If you're like me you work everyday at a job you hate, for little money and little appreciation. You spend your money on a show by a performer you really like and expect to be entertained, not told to "Shhhh!" Please don't get me wrong, I do LOVE her music(or I wouldn't have joined this list) and with the way she been touring she is probably exhausted and with little patience left. Maybe her next tour she won't overdue it, so she can get back in touch with her fans. >> Maybe it is ok to scream at the end/beginning of a song to show that you're really enjoying the concert. And you say that you feel because you spent your hard earned money and deserve the right to scream whenever you want and not to be Shushed by others.... Here's the way I feel, and think most others feel. We all spend our hard earned money to go see Jewel sing & speak to us... If we wanted to hear a bunch of screaming people then we'd pay to go see them scream, we actually want to hear Jewel... Go figure, I mean, is that too much to ask? Show your appreciation but let the rest of us enjoy what we REALLY came there to hear... :) I think that about sums it up... no? But to share an example, I went to see Bette Midler about 3-4 years ago at the MGM and the lady behind me decided that SHE was Bette Midler and wanted to sing along to all the songs... Finally, I got so sick of it I couldn't stand it so I turned around and said "Listen Lady, I don't mean to be rude, but if I wanted to hear you sing I'd pay you for it. I paid my 50 bucks to hear Bette Midler, not you... Thanks"... that's also happened to me two other times, at Elton John and at Starlight Express... whereas i did the same exact thing... it worked too! muahaha... I figure what the heck, I paid damn good money to go to these shows I might as well get my money's worth... laugh... - --Lisa-- **Warrior Princess Angel** ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Sep 1997 00:36:21 PDT From: "thaksina ungsriswasdi" Subject: Re: Jewel look-alike's >From owner-jewel@smoe.org Fri Sep 12 17:19:06 1997 >Received: from jane.smoe.org (majordom@smoe.org [204.167.97.154]) > by relay1.shore.net (8.8.7/8.8.7) with SMTP id UAA28129; > Fri, 12 Sep 1997 20:19:01 -0400 (EDT) >Received: from localhost by jane.smoe.org (SMI-8.6/SMI-SVR4-jewelq-jane) > id TAA11375; Fri, 12 Sep 1997 19:44:01 -0400 >Received: by jane.smoe.org (bulk_mailer v1.5); Fri, 12 Sep 1997 19:43:40 -0400 >Received: by jane.smoe.org (SMI-8.6/SMI-SVR4-jewelq-jane) > id TAA11084; Fri, 12 Sep 1997 19:32:49 -0400 >Received: from m14.boston.juno.com by jane.smoe.org (SMI-8.6/SMI-SVR4-daemon-mode-relay2) > id TAA10614; Fri, 12 Sep 1997 19:15:27 -0400 >Received: (from dijewe1@juno.com) > by m14.boston.juno.com (queuemail) id TsJ18613; Fri, 12 Sep 1997 19:13:30 EDT >To: secretmoon@juno.com >Cc: sp96@juno.com, jewel@smoe.org >Subject: Re: Jewel look-alike's >Message-ID: <19970912.160532.4255.14.dijewe1@juno.com> >References: <19970911.203542.3662.4.SP96@juno.com> >X-Mailer: Juno 1.38 >X-Juno-Line-Breaks: 0-7 >From: dijewe1@juno.com (Diana Ruiz) >Date: Fri, 12 Sep 1997 19:13:30 EDT >Sender: owner-jewel@smoe.org >Precedence: bulk > >Secretmoon Said: > << I would really love to see Jewel in a feature film.>> >I would too!!! (if you live in San Diego.) In any case, I wanted to let the EDAs get first crack at these two tickets. If you have never been to a Jewel concert in San Diego I URGE you to make an effort to attend. Some lady GAVE me a ticket, and I couldn't find anyone to buy it from me ! The crowd was rowdy as usual , until Jewel told them to be quiet- and the miracle is, they WERE quiet from then on :). Jewel played an INCREDIBLE mix of songs. Now, "Daddy" doesn't usually impress me, but she did it slightly differently this time- as she went on she started poundind her fist on her guitar, and it got louder and louder. She added a verse about coming home with a shady character with long hair, and liking the Cosby show. She then- miracle of all miracles- did Nicotine Love ( definitely my favorite ). She also did Deep Water, Carnivore, Studies in Love #12, Everything Breaks, the new version of Been Down So Long ( I like it more and more every time I hear it ) and others. She played almost an hour before the band came out. The total show ran a little over two hours. And... I got one of the original glow-in-the-dark angel posters. AND I spent the whole show with an extra ticket in my pocket :). Go figure. Rachel :O ------------------------------ End of jewel-digest V2 #732 ***************************
