1) GROOVY PEOPLE WE MET LAST MONTH THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT
We met Edith "Jackie" Ronne at The Birchmere in Alexandria Virginia, and
again at Jammin' Java in Vienna VA last month, and we're instant fans! She's
a remarkable Antarctic adventurer and her story will leave you breathless!
Read her fantastic (true) account of the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition,
1946-48, in which she became the first American woman to set foot on
Antarctica at http://205.174.118.254
/nspt/explore/heels01.htm
Eddie "Chank" Willis and Allan Slutsky. Allan is the Producer of the most
awesome new film, "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown", in which he tells the
story of the session musicians, now known as The Funk Brothers, who played
all the music on the Motown recordings through the early 70s. You know the
names of the stars who had the hits, now see the story of the session
musicians who cranked out all the tracks! We hung out with Allan and
original Funk Brother guitarist Eddie "Chank" Willis a day before they won
two Grammys. Very cool stories from the source! The DVD comes out in April,
and the Funk Brothers will be touring then too! They're in their 70s now,
and they play better than ever. Check them out, and catch the movie in
theaters while you still can. visit www.standingintheshadowso

5) STAND
We join the millions of people worldwide to oppose the oil cartel-sponsored
aggression against Iraq. We certainly don't endorse human rights violations
or autocratic regimes, but a quick study of the biographies of Bush, Cheney,
Rice and company will reveal that they are top level oil executives who have
improperly seized control of the US treasury and military, and are using
these precious resources to rob our great country of not only its treasure,
but more tragically of its integrity as a true haven of freedom, justice and
individual rights. Our travels outside of America have intensified our
patriotism for our own country, and we feel strongly that George Washington
and Thomas Jefferson would be rolling in their graves if they could witness
the dismantling of everything that they and so many generations of Americans
sacrificed to preserve. Don't be intimidated by those who will tell you that
it's unpatriotic to study these issues and form your own opinions. To stay
well informed, avoid TV newscasts and surf the web for a variety of opinions
and information sources from around the world. Of course, you can disagree
with our stance. Diversity of opinions is essential to the democracy that we
celebrate. We only urge you to form your own opinions based on a wide-ranging
study of the issues, people, and global corporations involved in this complex
web of events.
Peace & Love,
Pete & Maura...
