Fun times in the Fall camp. They finally get round to doing their gig here at 'The Canteen' in rain-lashed S.Cumbria this Friday:- if MES isn't so shitfaced he goes walkabout:- I'll personally believe it's happening when I actually see their tour bus pull up. Apparently Gary the promotor has tried (with not much success) to find out what the terms of the 'rider' are:- mainly concerning the PA /amplification spec required, but not forgetting what the band require in the way of pre- and post-gig sustenance liquid or otherwise. Last I heard, all he'd gotten was exceedingly vague statements of a "it'll be allright....whatever....." from their management. The lack of any specific requests could be ominous, as what gets laid on as a best-guess could keep yer man Smith arguing for hours, if he feels that way out...... Maybe seasoned Fall-watchers can tell me if MES has 'form' for blowing out gigs at the 11th hour? Because at #15 a ticket, I don't want to fork out for a no-show...... ps To my personally great relief, the band I'm with *didn't* in the end land the support slot. Thus my gear will be safe, and I won't need to concern myself with the possibility of arguing with a stroppy drunk............ I never thought I'd read the phrase 'his drinking's got much worse of late' in MES' context, as I wasn't sure it was possible! http://playlouder.com/news/~legend-of-the-fa/?key=2248d2-236d05 another the Keith ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Oct 2006 21:00:47 EDT From: MarkBursa@aol.com Subject: Re: [idealcopy] OT: Yet more Fall strife >>Maybe seasoned Fall-watchers can tell me if MES has 'form' for blowing out gigs at the 11th hour? Check me out!<< Well, he is unpredictable, but I've never had a Fall gig cancelled on me out of 40 or so gigs in 27 years ;-) Bursa's law of The Fall dictates that the further the gig is from hipster-filled cities (eg London, Manchester) the more likely the band are to play a blinder. So the citizens of Barrow should be in for a treat... Mark ------------------------------ End of idealcopy-digest V9 #259 *******************************
