While I was in Australia, twice I heard on the local ecto-friendly radio station a song that seemed familiar. The only part of it I can remember now was the verse "the dish ran away with the spoon." The vocalist was in the general area of Kristin Hersh or Hope Sandoval. Anyone know? I'm probably going to kick myself when I find out what it is. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Mar 2010 17:42:15 -0700 From: Sue Trowbridge Subject: Re: What's that song? You can listen to a snippet of it here: http://www.ilike.com/artist/Kimmie+Rhodes/track/Midnight+Song - --Sue ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Mar 2010 21:29:26 -0400 From: Paul Blair Subject: Re: What's that song? So this was for sure a first, right? A Kate cover on AI? Anyhow, just wondering whether you all saw it and what you thought of it. I did not hear Kate's name mentioned at all, btw, fwiw. I wonder how many people watching knew who wrote it or have ever even heard of her. - -mjm ________________________________ Michael Mendelson Email mjmjminla@yahoo.com Voice home 310-876-9711 cell 310-995-1319 office 626-775-3856 fax 626-775-3701 ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Mar 2010 00:17:26 -0400 From: meredith Subject: Re: TWW on idol Hi, On 3/14/10 11:39 PM, Michael Mendelson wrote: > OK, well, I have not watched this season of Idol much but I was just watching last week's show, and this guy Big Mike sang a very respectable version of... wait for it... a Kate song! > So this was for sure a first, right? I wonder how many people watching knew who wrote it or have ever even heard of her. I don't watch American Idol, but I've seen several references to the performance of "This Woman's Work" referring to it as a cover of a Maxwell song. *headdesk* Meredith :) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 15 Mar 2010 00:11:10 -0500 From: Jon Wesley Huff Subject: Re: TWW on idol They said it was a Maxwell song. They've done the same thing before when another guy covered it. It's really annoying. The contestants don't know any bettter (one time a girl said she was singing Swing Low Sweet Chariot by Beyonce!) but the producers should.
