This girl has really got a whole heap of talent and I predict that she's going to be known worldwide within a year or two. I've been listening to the EP on repeat for about a week now and my only complaint is - only four songs! Must. Have. More! Check out www.missyhiggins.com for sound samples and stuff. And if you're in Oz, she's touring over the next few weeks supporting George. There's also a solo gig at the Sandringham Hotel in Newtown on Dec 13, which I'm highly looking forward to. When her name was first mentioned here on ecto I downloaded the sample of "All for Believing" and have listened to it often since--I find it really catchy. So the instant I heard the ep was available I ordered it from chaosmusic.au and it arrived a few days ago. Alas, "All for Believing" is the only track I like on it. At all. I still find "All for Believing" incredibly catchy, but the rest of the tracks do less than nothing for me. As a matter of fact, I can't bear to listen to them. I'm not sure what it is--because the music and lyrics are just too painfully predictable to me? And she sings so powerfully and earnestly? Anyway, I'm sure someone else here will love this, though. She's got quite the vocal style. And I still love "All for Believing"--it's a hit repeat song for me, which is why I'm so disappointed. She reminds me very much of Margot O'Breslin. (My copy of the ep is available at cost, $6.00. I'll cover postage, because it's used.) - --Neile ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Nov 2003 18:42:24 -0700 From: Neal Copperman Subject: Re: The Missy Higgins EP I liked the half of Greed For Your Love I was listening to, but then I started getting fed up with the mediocre sound of the download. Does this sound bad to everyone? Or is my set-up having some disagreements with the video? neal At 5:28 PM -0800 11/20/03, Neile Graham wrote: >Sherlyn Koo wrote: > >>Hey folks, >> >>I just need a minute to rave about the new Missy Higgins' EP (called, >>intuitively enough, "The Missy Higgins EP"). I was beginning to think Hansford Rowe was incapable of smiling until I hit a couple of photos of him actually smiling. How does the band sound? Thanks to Vickie, I can now indulge my Happy foot fetish. And tell me this: What is Happy saying while displaying her left hand in those photos? "This finger is still not working right." Or: "It's all better now." Happy seems to be having a good time (photo evidence). I hope that continues with all her performances. Bye, Lyle wp: The Very Best of Elvis Costello nr: van Vogt. It's a considerable step forward from our original design. We hope you enjoy taking a look around. We will of course be adding to it's content in the weeks and months to come. http://www.davidsylvian.com My gratitude to all who participated in the European tour. I was suitably knocked out by your patience, curiosity, and generosity throughout. Thank you for making it a remarkable experience. The World Citizen single will be released shortly on the Samadhi Sound label in conjunction with Ryuichi's KAB Inc. More Samadhi Sound releases will be forthcoming in the new year. We'll keep you up dated on those projects as they develop. peace david www.davidsylvian.com ...... __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
