We believe it appeared in last Sunday's edition. The reason is there is a "semi-clear" reproduction of Marianne Nowottny's cd "Afraid of Me" in the background of the photo which accompanied this article. He seems to be a fan! We collect these items and would like to have a copy for her archive. Does anyone on this list in the U.K. have a copy of this article w/ photo they could send us. A scan would be fine. The original even better. Contact us off list at: abaton@voicenet.com Thanks for checking! Now my CD shopping list will bulge again :))) Hope you are all well - -- /\/\ike St.Petersburg, Russia ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Aug 2003 06:53:18 -0400 From: "Robert Lovejoy" Subject: Re: back here Hi Michael! Welcome back! Michael and I have thanks on Building The Colossus, to give relative list newbies an idea of how long he's been involved with things ectonian. It's wonderful to see you back on the list. How's the weather in St. Petersburg? You folks as hot as the rest of Europe or is your northern location offering some relief? Have you been following the adventures of Ms. Rhodes during your absence from ecto? Life is full of changes. One album I would recommend to you off the bat is Kevin Bartlett's new solo release, "Near Life Experience". It comes with a kind of sonic glue that makes it difficult to remove from your cd player. Nice to see your name here again! I moved away from there awhile ago so unfortunately I'll have to miss them! :( On August 25th, Kyler will be playing at The Bitter End -- the show is her album release party for her new album "A flower grows in stone". Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show is at 8:30 sharp / $5 cover / 21+. She'll be playing w/ her full band. I've known Kyler a few years now and have seen her live and it is an experience you do not want to miss. As amazing as her albums are, she is even more incredible in person. Excellent stage presence and an amazing voice and a really solid band backing her up... the new record is excellent as well... www.kylerengland.com On August 24th, Brenda Weiler will be playing at Lincoln Center in the afternoon as part of the "La Castia" festival (2 p.m.) and later that evening at The Knitting Factory -- in the Tap Room / 21+ / doors at 10 p.m. and show at 10:30 / not sure how much the cover is. Brenda is currently living in Portland and doesn't get to the East Coast for shows very often... I would highly recommend her to you all... I adore her albums... she is compared frequently to Ani Difranco... great voice, intelligent lyrics... She is actually working w/ Virt Records (Vienna Teng's label) now and her 5th album should be out later this fall. www.brendaweiler.com I wish I could fly back to NYC just to catch these shows! I hope some of you can make it and report back to us ;) jessica - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - - jessica weiser :: singer/songwriter www.jessicaweiser.com ------------------------------ End of ecto-digest V9 #233 **************************
