Chris wants to go to Kansas City for the holidays. Beyond that, there's a possibility of something else happening. I can't say anything yet, because these plans are not my own. If things are finalized, then I'll know. Well, December 11 saw EctoParty 2 1/2, or 'The EctoParty Strikes Back' as it was put so wittily!!! = ) Our guests were the following: Chip Lueck from Chicago, USA David Lindsay from Edinburgh, Scotland (he should join this list pretty soon, I knew him from the Queen Mail Server) Tim Cook from Harrogate, England Klaus Kluge and Claudia Spix from Wuppertal Uli Grepel from Heusenstamm and Pete and myself! We started around 4 o'clock, and I'd say, we had a really good time. Guess what: this time we actually listened to some Happy!!!! = ) We watched some videos and played really good music (of course). We also put together a video tape for Happy, which also includes a few shots from Ectoparty 2 and 2 1/2. Hopefully the video tape and the Andreas Vollenweider CD together with a beautiful fuzzy blue Christmas card will arrive at Happy's in time! We owe the beautiful card to a friend of Tim, who is an artist. I couldn't really discribe it for you, it's pretty modern, but the blue is absolutely amazing, and there are bits of purple, and yellow, I think... very special! It reads "Happy Christms Happy". Of course, we had lots of fuzzy blue drinks, too, which tasted quite delicious! This time it was my turn to spend the evening with blue fingertips, as I had to get the blue ice cubes out, which were left over from the Party with Klaus and Claudia. I didn't wear any nail- plish, though, so the blue blended in quite well with my pretty pail whitish skin... Around afternoon American time, we also called Vickie (of course!). It was great to talk to her again. I really hope that I'll have a chance sometime to actually meet her in person! Klaus, Claudia and Uli left us around 1:30, I think, and due to the Scottish influence, we couldn't help finishing the evening off with the video tape 'The Highlander' (From the dawn of time we came, moving shilently all through the shenturiesh...) = ) A little explannation: Dave kept on doing impersinations of Sean Connery - this is what he is supposed to sound like. Anyway, thanks for all who came along! If you only had half as much fun as I did, it was a great success!!! Ilka = ) P.S: Just a question: I'll be in Boston from January 8 - 13 and in Halifax from January 14 until January 21. The first single off their latest album is _Back on black II_ (from She - although I'm not sure why the "II" & the Wilson sisters get co-writing credits. Maybe they added a verse or something) and I think I noticed another song, which had a title I didn't recognize, that was also written by Dalbello, and the Wilsons. Its been so good having all you friendly voices around recently, as ive had a rough time. You guys talk so much sense it amazing! on the subject of :- WEIGHT its strange, i always thought of myself as fat until a guy I really respected told me i was beautiful. My room mate here at uni is bulemic, so the discussions have been great to give me the strength to help her. shes slowly pulling round, and is probably going to be reading ecto too, soon. As in many of these things, she seems to be doing it because she thinks its what she deserves. How do you tell someone theyre really worth something? SEXUALITY someone (brian the cow sig?) was complaining about homophobia recently. Im bisexual, and all that 'gays are unnatural' stuff really gets on my tits. only came out a while ago, despite having known for some years. The thing that really held me back was contant teasing from school friends, who assumed short haired tomboys slightly on the portly side were fair game. It takes a lot to realize that boy mad trendies really arent the kind of people you want to listen to. However, it must be said that the one thing that annoys me even more than hompho. is many men's reaction when you tell them. It goes something like: "PHWOOAARGH! Gor, if you ever 'ave a woman round tell me wont you? eh? eh?" Does anyone know a good response to this one? Michael Bravo: I know what you mean about reading! It's getting to be very big (several times the size of ecto I think), so occasionally there are people who get obnoxious or have a bad day, and flames result. I'm very reluctant to interfear with this unless things get really out of hand (I had to recently, and didn't like doing so), mainly because I feel it's up to people on the list to decide whether what they post is reasonable, and I shouldn't be controlling it or censoring it. A couple of times I've felt it necessary to post messages suggesting what might or might not be appropriate to post, but being careful to point out that I really have no more say in the matter than any other subscriber. I've always intended that rdt should develop it's own character, and think for the most part it's done a good job of it. It's certainly not as diverse as ecto, and perhaps doesn't have as strong a community feel to it, which is in part I think because of the size. Still I never planned it to be another ecto, and don't think that's what it should be. Ecto exists and is ecto, and rdt exists and is rdt. If anything I expected it to be more like stormcock, in that I never expected it to become as big or busy as it has. But that's fine too. The idea that people should leave it, or not want to post on it, for fear of being flamed is worrying. If I thought that rdt was turning into something like gaffa, full of "I'm-a-more-devoout-KAte-Bush-fan- than-you-so-your-opinions-are-shit" type posts, I would probably pack it in and give up.
