Aah, what a dinner party that would be... 8-) Rob I read what Court said, and can dig her point. Courtney comes from trailer trash. (Courtney fans, don't jump on me. She states these words herself.) She's not educated. She and no one she works with is or has been classically-trained. She may have established a level of class in her life now, but she doesn't come from culture, from an artistic, refined, educated background in ANY way, as well all know, Poe does. I think Courtney just pointed out the grand differences between herself and Poe, without insulting either of themselves. I also think she basically pointed out how, aside from both being female, they really don't share a common ground as musicians. Again, nothing wrong with that. Her record company just made a horrible mistake in who they choose to direct the video, and we must let them know that it was a bad choice... This is why I hate the current state of the music industry... I took a pretty liberal interp and thought that the second woman was supposed to be a double (Poe wrestling herself). That helped a bit, but I also had a vision for the song and the video did not fit. I think that it fails to show the personality of the character or voice. The first time I heard the song, I thought it was the same character from "Junkie," a little older, wiser and collecting junkies of her own. Her voice and this song (esp. when listened to in cd order) brings to mind a sexual predator, not Foxy Boxing. : ) Tas - ----- Original Message ----- From: Notajunkie To: Angry-Psychos Sent: Monday, April 30, 2001 4:14 PM Subject: RE: hey pretty video recap > > correction. I can't imagine that anyone is a bigger fan of Poe than me, just as big, maybe, but not bigger. But I just don't like the video for Hey Pretty. First of all, It bugs me that it uses the Drive-by mix, I like the original lyrics to the song. And I don't get what mud wrestling has to do with anything. I also don't think we should be trying to get the video on TRL. Have you seen the crap on there? I haven't seen the show in awhile, but I quit watching because I don't like Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys. I don't think TRL deserves Poe. And Besides that, I don't think the video represents Poe well. If I didn't know who she was, I wouldn't be convinced that she was a good artist by watching her dance half naked and hearing only the chorus to the song. Yahoo! Alright, I watched the video again to try to give it another chance... It just pissed me off even more...dispite the actual content, the editing is also horrible...there are parts in which their is no singing, but her lips are moving as if she was! The director is just bad... I don't know...I'm probally just annoying people now, but it just pisses me off...It also gives me hope. If someone can get a job doing this, then I can definetly get a job when I get out of school...the caliber of this video is something that the D student in one of my classes would do.
