In fact, there are many interesting novelties also in this edition. First novelty: in the intention of increasing the quality of the competition, this year the organization decided to reserve to some foreign directors the participation to Trento International Festival of Theatre Production (to a maximum of 3 directors out of 18 finalists). They will have to present a written project of direction (in English) regarding the selected text for the competition. Among those who will have presented the project by the 10th of September, the organization will select 1 to 3 directors who will be entitled to participate to Trento International Festival. Second novelty: consists in a significant revolution in the structure itself of the Festival: in place of a single competition made up of a selection phase and of a final one, there will be some Territorial Festivals, each of which will have a winner. The one to come in first at the single Territorial Festival, besides getting a money prize, will be entitled to participate to the International Festival of Theatre Production which will take place in Trento. The territorial Festivals will be going on in Dovadola-Forll, Lanciano, Genova, Brescia, Rome, Padua, Trento, Leipzig - Germany, Vienna  Austria, Palermo, Naples (Trieste and Brindisi have still to be confirmed  updates on the website www.festivalregia.it ). Seeing the success of past editions (in the 2007 edition a German director came first), we are going to reaffirm our international commitment: the directors coming from Germany and from other European countries will be able to face with the Italian ones this year too, thus creating not only a theatrical event but also a meeting point between different artistic cultures. Third novelty: directors will not have to represent one or more scenes taken from a text this year; they will have to stage a complete work (the same for all) in 18 minutes. They are completely free in putting on the text: they can stage all the text, selecting the most important scenes, they can make a rewriting, they can use multi-media supports... Fourth novelty: consists in the acknowledgements that will be assigned to the winners of the Territorial Festivals. The first prize winner can choose between the usual money prize and a budget for the production of the show represented at the competition. To realize this show she/he will be entitled to have a 20-day stay (accommodation and theatre). Moreover, at least 3 dates will be assured for the performance of the show produced. Many other prizes will be awarded to the first three prize winners, among which an employment contract for the direction of a show, at least 2 dates for the best shows performed at the competition, at least 12 dates for shows already in production. Every Territorial Festival will have a jury composed of show professionals which will choose the winner after having evaluated all the works of the participant directors. The jury evaluation criteria will consider: technical/theatrical skills, ability to touch, ability to harmonize, ability to direct the actors and all the elements which will be considered appropriate. The jury judgement is not open to appeal.
