I think it counts in terms of the original context of Joe's query, ie they (actually Dave-o) *have* figured out a way of performing the song live. Unlike 2 other songs that were requested at the house party, Sad Today and Hate Letter, neither of which they could perform that day[1]. Hate Letter because, as spake Mike I believe: "does that song even have lyrics?"; and Sad Today because they didn't have one of the necessary but obscure instruments on site. AFAIK they've *never* performed Hate Letter live. - -- Lori ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The good news is that I can manage my finances with governmental proficiency. John there are not that many songs that they have NEVER performed live. Shockingly there are very few that I haven't personally seen them perform. I'm always surprised at songs that people have never seen, because to me very few seem THAT rare. BTW, did you try checking on FDC to see if any of these had been done, because I know several of them have just by skimming. > Morphee--seen it once not that long ago. > On Her Doorstep--Played at Frucon I and a few other times. > Gord's Gold--Mike actually does it ocassionally as filler. Morphee two or three times. Gord's Gold... I think... twice? (Kath remembers these things better than I do.) Entropy... maybe I'm confusing it with Cedric Fruvous (FruCon I). Downsizing... yums. It would only seem fitting that it would be performed there since it's Gordon Lightfoot's hometown. What I took out of that night was their absolutely incredible finale with Dan Bern. > Just to keep this actual Fru-content going, have we any stats on their > most-performed song? Is it King of Spain or Drinking Song, or shall we > declare a tie? I think it would have to be KoS. I've only seen 3 shows where they DIDN'T perform that song. Drinking Song otoh they tended to rotate as a final encore with a few others. It seemed to depend on what the vibe was in the venue, what their mood was, acoustic considerations, and whether they considered another song more apropos (Gulf War Song for example, or Brown-Eyed Girl). Damn. It feels weird writing about their sets exclusively in past tense. - -- Lori ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The good news is that I can manage my finances with governmental proficiency. What is really funny though is that Misplaced is by far the more rare of the two. I have probably seen On Her Doorstep 4 or 5 times.
