My choice for favorite Non-Fruvous CD of the year would be John Hammond's "Wicked Grin" Does anyone else have suggestions? I'm diggin' on the new Better Than Ezra, Semisonic, and Garbage. Haven't got the BF or Sonny Landreth or David Garza or Ron Sexsmith or Freedy Johnston and I'm sure they'd all chart as well, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch. I do have a list somewhere. I have gotten some old stuff this year, so it's "new to me"-- finished the Martin Sexton collection, and added to my miniscule Ron Sexsmith and Nields collections. WHEW! This "fan" thing is a lotta work, and it's only gonna get tougher now that hockey season's started. Come ON Sabres! Ben Folds - Rockin' the Suburbs The Nields - Live from Northampton Lucy Kaplansky - Every Single Day Eddie from Ohio - Quick Da Vinci's Notebook - The Song that Dare Not Speak Its Name I also just picked up Dar Williams' new CD, Out There Live, but I haven't had a chance to listen to it. (although I've been told it's excellent) I also haven't yet bought Jump, Little Children's album Vertigo, but what I did hear from it at their show here in June I really liked. (of course, "favourite non-Fr|vous recordings" seems like an odd statement this year, since it's the first year since 1994 that Fr|vous haven't released anything...) - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= *** Usenet.com - The #1 Usenet Newsgroup Service on The Planet! *** http://www.usenet.com - -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 07 Oct 2001 00:23:50 GMT From: "Cap'n" <"capn"@home.com (deletethistoreply)> Subject: Re: Favorite Non Fruvous CD of 2001 Well, the new Ben Folds is awesome, I have to agree with the other people that said that. Other than that... I guess the new Me First and the Gimme Gimmes' Blow In The Wind is my favourite of the year. I love when they sing female parts (My Boyfriend's Back and Stand By Your Man). Although, 2001 may as well not exist for me, since the new Rush album is coming out in 2002. It's looking like the only really good thing to come out of 2001 is gonna be the birth of my first child, but the due date is Dec. 8th, so I think I can talk the Mrs. into holding it in until 2k2. - -- ironcladlou "I have misplaced my pants." - Homer Jay Simpson ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V5 #264 ********************************************
