Ok, so I think I have the FruCon show from DNTO up and available. Go to https://www.idrive.com/locicero/files/?curr-node=8464196132317167640 and try to download it. Let me know if anyone has problems. It seems to be a little funky and shows me the file like it is there twice, but it looks like it is downloading ok. A.J. - -- Maria: Watch out! I can't remember where or when Mike Ford said "Moxy Fruvous is a trust exercise." Anybody out there have a better memory than I do? And for discussion, what is your favorite Mike Ford quote? Mine happens to be the aforementioned "trust exercise" observation, but the man is a font of the quotable word, having spawned gems such as "all right, who fruvoused the cat?" and other similar imponderables. - -- Lori memory-challenged Glitter Fairy ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Apr 2001 16:01:19 GMT From: Katherine Maheux Subject: Re: Fordyisms Lori Martin wrote: > > Okay, here's a question AND a discussion topic. > > I can't remember where or when Mike Ford said "Moxy Fruvous is a trust exercise." > Anybody out there have a better memory than I do? Can't help you there, I just wanted to share my favourite Mike quote. I'm quite partial to "A penny whistle in D is a penny whistle indeed." However, the quote I use most in my everyday life (really, I said this once as a joke at work and it stuck, probably because it was so appropriate) is "If I had a one-word review, that word would be 'Harumph'." - -- Saving the world from my own hare-brained | / /\ ----- | | schemes involving breakfast cereal. >>-|/-->| | | |__| Weekdays at seven-thirty. |\ |--| | | | http://monument.voice.tripod.com | \ | | | | | ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Apr 2001 08:41:43 -0700 (PDT) From: Bridget Subject: Re: Fordyisms - --- Lori Martin wrote: > > And for discussion, what is your favorite Mike > Ford quote? For whatever reason, this is the only one that is currently coming to mind... October 29, 1999 in Boulder, CO... After the first couple of songs, Jian says to the crowd - "Good evening, we are Wilco!". He later states that their new album "Summerteeth" is out, to which there is not a whole lot of response... then the conversation went something like this: Jian: "Don't you know Wilco? I thought this would be a total Wilco state!" There is some general murmuring in the crowd. Mike: "Then laugh at the joke, f***ers!". This _was_ one of my favorites.... ;) Bridget Yahoo! It seems idrive has a daily download limit from the account. Today's has been exceeded, so if you don't have it yet you will have to wait till tomorrow or whenever. I also have the file up on myspace.com. The only thing with that is that you have to have an account there to get the file. Of course the account is free, so it isn't that big of a deal. If you have an account there or are willing to get one, you can get the DNTO FruCon show at http://www.myspace.com/Folders/6102732/ The password is "fruvous". Chris O'Malley has said that he wants to put it on FDC, so hopefully we'll get it up there soon and access will be easier. It's just Jian that's playing at Zaphod Beeblebrox, not Moxy Fruvous. That place is way too tiny for Fruvous, anyway, but for Jian it'll be just right. Nice and cozy. I remember! Hey! That *was* funny! Bridget! It's so nice to have you crawled out from whatever rock you were living under. :) I miss you! While I'm at it... the "Fordyisms" that pop to mind the quickest to me are the little snippets from KOS after the "There's a roof overhead" line, Fordy has replaced "and food on the plates" with things like: "I am a porpoise!" and my personal favorite: "I play the congas!" I'll probably think of better "real fordyisms" later. Heh, just one? In Rochester at Milestones last August they did that usual 3 boss types and Mike came over to Jian saying "We need to know that you're behind our product, because the world needs edible hot pants." Also a gem, "He'll go off like a pack of hemmorroids." I forgot who he was referring to, it was during the WBER interview that same August weekend. I think it was in reference to Dave's hatred of Adam Duritz. There's more. I mean, who could forget the time he spoke to all of us in the scat section of Boo Time during Frucon Weekend. *laughs lightly for _that_ long gone flamewar* *Sally* life is short, it's the accessories that kill you. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Apr 2001 02:59:12 GMT From: Marie-Claude Subject: Re: Fordyisms Lori Martin wrote: > what is your favorite Mike Ford quote? One of the technical engineers working on the album fell ill and the release date has been pushed back. As soon as we get more information we will have it up on the site so please keep checking back.
