Since we're sharing... My buds Mac and Kelly came down to DC from upstate New York for the show at the 9:30 Club; we got dinner (Ethiopian!) in Adams Morgan; there was a record store by the restaurant-- with one of the yellow posters up. I asked the store if I could take it off the wall, as the concert it was advertising (Sharpie'ed in at the bottom, below the four mug shots) was that night. They looked confused and said, "Sure." So I took it. After the show, only Jian and Murray came out to chill with folks (or I left before anyone else did), alas, so they were the only ones to sign it. However, Jian wrote, "Yayeeee Kate!" and Murray penned, "Kate, I do illegal things." This made it worthwhile, in my book. (Murray had asked me how grad school was going-- I couldn't believe he remembered this from the *one* time we'd met before, when we talked about my finishing a Master's in Criminal Justice... hence, the quote.) The poster's on the back of my bathroom door-- and has been a *great* conversation piece! For the record, at dinner that night, Laura from Colorado literally *randomly* joined us from the open invitation we'd posted to the ng-- we'd never met her before, but since then, she's come back-East lots of times! I think she and Mike (Hi, Mike!) went to last year's Fr|con? Don't know if either of them read the ng, but, Hi, y'all! ~ Kate > Date: Mon, 26 Feb 2001 20:31:03 GMT > From: "Chris K @*_*@" > Subject: posters? > *walks across her room to the poster on the wall* > > Yes, Chad would be right in that great description/ASCII drawing. > > But you forgot the words "The New Album" in between the cover of > Live Noise and the pictures of the guys. > > Christine. - -- Estne volumen in toga, an solum ti libet mi videre? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 27 Feb 2001 16:45:19 GMT From: mike96@bluecrow.com (Mike Yoshioka) Subject: Re: OT: Da Vinci's Notebook in CA in early March On Tue, 27 Feb 2001 04:10:08 GMT, paul@davincisnotebook.com (Paul Sabourin) wrote: >Here's yet another self-promoting post from Da Vinci's Notebook, that >a cappella group from Washington, DC... > >Da Vinci's Notebook will be travelling to the West Coast for the first >time in nearly four years (now that the statute of limitations has >finally run out), and we are celebrating with a trio of shows in >Southern California. Say, at least up to Seattle? (And any chance at all that it will make it up over the border to Vancouver?) I had a braino, and accidentally put my own phone number in there instead of Passim's! Oops. The Club Passim reservation line is actually 617-492-7679. The show's filling up, so call and reserve if you want to go.
