LoCicero" Subject: Frucon Update: Final Edition Well folks, it is almost that time. Here is all the last minute info that the Frucon Committee could think of to bombard you with prior to the con. 1) SCHEDULE: Here is the schedule for the con activities. 10:00 AM Doors Open. Videos begin. Mingling, puzzles, frufitti, art table and spontaneous sing-alongs. 12:00 Lunch. Pizza Pizza, pop and water will be sold in the great hall. 12:30-1:15 Open Mic Set 1. 1:15-1:30 Break. 1:30-2:15 Open Mic Set 2. 2:15-2:30 Break. 2:30-4:00 Q & A Hosted by Jaymz Bee. Guests will include Murray Foster, Jian Ghomeshi and Margaret Malandruccolo (Director of the last two videos). The topic will be the creative process of video and album making. 4:00-5:00 The annual Frucon Raffle. Many of this year's prizes are still a mystery even to the committee, but we can tell you that the grand prize is a real live guitar hand decorated by some guy named Mike Ford. 5:00-6:00 Clean Up. Assistance from everyone is welcome and requested. 2) ART TABLE: we will have a table set up and monitored where you can display your creative efforts. Come on, bring in that oil painting of the lads enthroned with cherubim and seraphim. You know we ALL wanna see! :) 3) SING ALONGS. One of the highlights of Frucon has always been the sing alongs and we expect this year will be no exception. Bring your voices and your instruments and Jam with your fellow fruheads. One thing we've learned over the years is that there is a heck of a lot of talent out there in the fruhead ranks. 4) FOOD DRIVE: This year we will be collecting food for the Daily Bread food bank. Please bring a can or other type of non-perishable foodstuff for the drive. We will be giving away one raffle ticket to each person who donates. 5) VIDEOS: We will again be showing a continuous loop of the fruvous videos on a small monitor in addition to our main video room which will feature TV appearances, concert footage, and other miscellany. Highlights this year include the fabled Cedric Fruvous video from CBC, a MuchMusic spotlight show called "Break This" from 1995, and Jian getting a makeover! 6) FRUVOUS MERCH: The band tells us that they will have a table at the con selling various goodies. 7) BUYING TICKETS: Tickets will remain onsale via TicketWeb http://ticketweb.com/user/?region=on&query=detail&event=186822 until approximately 11:59 pm ET Thursday. After that, tickets will be available at the pub event on Friday (5-7 pm at Dewey's in the Toronto Colony Hotel) and at the door of Frucon (starting at 10am Saturday at The Great Hall.) The Frucon admission price for tickets purchased at the pub and at Frucon will be cdn$20. If we have room, we will sell additional tickets for the pub event and the Sunday breakfast, but it would help a lot if you buy your tickets online so that we can give the pub and restaurant a firm head count. 8) IF YOU'VE ALREADY PURCHASED TICKETS: You may pick up your Frucon "laminate" pass and any pub or breakfast vouchers that you purchased Friday, between 5-7pm at the Fruhead pub event in Dewey's at the Toronto Colony Hotel or at the doors of Frucon on Saturday starting at 10am. If you had tickets mailed to you, you must present your tickets. If you chose will call, YOU MUST PRESENT THE CREDIT CARD WITH WHICH YOUR TICKETS WERE PURCHASED. Please note that lost tickets, vouchers or laminates cannot be replaced under any circumstances, so please be careful once you pick up your pass and vouchers. 9) DONT FORGET: Jian has a solo show on Friday night at the Rivoli, a small 150 seat venue. Advanced tickets are still available for the show from http://www.maplemusic.ca. The Canadian Dollar is the official currency of Frucon. We do not have the resources to change money, so we will be taking US money AT PAR with Canadian. Make sure you have a supply of H.M. The Queen, or that Laurier dude in your pocket before you arrive. - -- "I know there is a lot of ambition in Washington, obviously. It's Too Cold is like the passenger pigeon of Fruvous. Once it was so common, it was a staple over EVERY show. Now it seems to be extinct. High time they revived it IMHO. Can you get that done at the Buffalo airport, or > just at the border? I've always just used my ATM card to get money from the money making machines under the green signs liberally spread across downtown toronto. It uses up to the minute exchange rates. I think a lot of them are Plus and not Cirrus. You may have to work a bit to find a Cirrus one. No idea about MAC or any of the other ones. My ATM card is Cirrus and Plus and I have had no problems with it. - Chad ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Feb 2001 10:13:26 -0500 From: Chad Maloney Subject: Re: 'Oh What a Feeling' Katherine Maheux wrote: > > Chad Maloney wrote: > > > > > > I would guess I Will Hold On. > > > > I would hope My Poor Generation or Half as Much or maybe > > even Splatter Splatter. > > > > I don't know the correct answer though. > > Wow, Chad, you're so optimistic. Put me down for King of Spain. I was hoping they would get the artist's permission before putting a song on there and that the artist would have the good sense to say "King of Spain? Fuck off. That's so 1992. Here, listen to this and decide if you still want us on your outstanding Canadian Music CD". Oh well.
