The lads had much to say to Dave about the suit, like how right a mint julep in hand would be, for example. They also indicated that the suit had been purchased that day at the Salvation Army Thrift store a block or so away from the Grand Opera House in Wilmington. I do not know if that was true. But the suit looked good. ------------------------------ Date: 12 Aug 2000 03:39:23 GMT From: fruwench@aol.com (FruWench) Subject: Fruvous on the radio Kathy on WXPN's Kids Corner played Moxy Fruvous "Green Eggs and Ham" tonight. Even artists who enjoy life on the road prefer to settle down at some point; the 4 guys of Fruvous are all in their mid-/late 30s; (correct me if I'm wrong, I've never really taken note of their ages), and, like a lot of people in their 30s they've probably been contemplating settling down into one semi-permanent location with a family of some sort. And while the hiatus and all the individual side projects going may not necessarily be death for Moxy Fruvous, it may just mean that they'll slow down a lot from their crazy and hectic touring schedule. As for the Thornhill thing, I've always thought (again, this is speculation) that the guys have pretty much had personal struggles of some sort over the issue of whether they should become more mainstream or not. On one hand, they enjoy a wonderful grassroots follwing which is very devoted to them and gobbles up almost all new material that is thrown out to them. OTOH, though, there's always the above issue- does this following provide a living for them to tour more sporadically, like most mainstream bands do, or even take a break for a couple of years? I'd guess not. While the whole grassroots thing is great in ideal, it probably conflicts with reality, and that's where the whole issue of money/becoming mainstream kicks in. As for the Sunday Morning segment, unless they're aiming for the senior citizen demographic, I don't think there was any ulterior motive behind it. : ) Of course, the above could be completely wrong, for all I know. Just my $.02. ~MJ ------------------------------ End of alt.music.moxy-fruvous digest V4 #347 ********************************************
