Nope. Please unsubscribe to the gateway and resubscribe under the new address. If you don't have access to the old email address, you either need to know how to fake email or get manually unsubscribed by Ofer (which can be done by emailing owner-ammf@fruvous.com and asking politely, explaining that you need to be manually removed from ammf because you don't have access to the email address anymore). - Chad ------------------------------ Date: 8 Aug 2000 16:53:10 GMT From: Veronica J Gruneberg <6vjg@qlink.queensu.ca> Subject: Re: the Fruhead rant (reformatted for better reading) Yes, Snow did bring us the atrocity that was Informer... ...and he's back! I don't know if this is what you want, but there's a band (Canadian, I believe) called BTK, which purportedly stands for "Birth Through Knowledge". They had a minor hit a couple years back with "Peppyrock", a catch hip-hop tune with a zany Sesame Street parody style video. Their first album was entitled, oddly enough, "Birth Through Knowledge", and I think they just released another recently, though I'm not sure of the name. A more thorough internet search for "BTK" would turn up more info, but again I'm not sure if that's what you're after. Barring some Act of God, FrüCon IV is set to take place *February 17 2001* in Toronto. That's only 6 months away. Only 193 days. Only 4,656...we'll stop now. So. FrüCon IV eh? Yup. You can either start packing your knapsack now - or listen up. The Frucon Committee has some slots to fill. (Yes we are uber-people, but even we have limits) :) Now we are not talking about Con VOLUNTEERS here, (although we certainly need those, that will come later). What we are looking for now is a FEW people to actually plan and execute the con. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for people who have: *ideas! * the ability to somehow come up with an uncanny amount of TIME and COMMITMENT for this not-so-little shindig BEFORE, DURING *and* AFTER. * regular access to their email (at LEAST twice a week) * easy access to IRC and regular blocks of time in which to have on-line meetings (In the past we've had one "full committee" online meeting each week once planning got into full swing, with email exchanges on specific issues daily.) * been to at least ONE of the previous conventions It would be helpful if you had the resources and free time to either attend a committee meeting in Toronto or some other mutually convenient place. JOB DESCRIPTION * participates in online meetings, email discussions and conference calls to plan Frucon. (In the past we've had one "full committee" online meeting each week once planning got into full swing, with email exchanges on specific issues daily.) * volunteers for and carries out specific tasks as assigned by the committee (e.g., contacting certain vendors, negotiating with caterers or hotels, working with sponsors.) * arrives in Toronto at least one day in advance to perform last-minute tasks and take care of details as needed * other duties as assigned by agreement of the committee or its chairperson. If you are interested in becoming a member of the committee, please email us at frucon@egroups.com with the subject "New Members". Include your complete name, email address and location, as well as a short critique of one of the Frucons that you've attended, including both good and bad points (we are well aware that they were nowhere near perfect). If you have any special skills that you think might be useful, please let us know, but be aware that all members of the committee contribute to most tasks. ***THE DEADLINE IS SEPT 1 2000- **** As always, as we plan the con, we will strive to keep the lines of communication between Früheads and committee open at all times. Each and every idea and comment submitted will be duly considered by the whole committee. In fact, some of the suggestions that could not be incorporated into FruCon III are already in serious consideration for the next FruCon. This event is for all of us Fruheads, so your input is essential. We look forward to hearing from you! Stay tuned for our next posts and keep checking http://frucon.tripod.com !
