Second on those vocals! The song wouldn't make my top 5, but I miss that harmony. I don't think I could choose five, but what happened to the Gulf War Song?? That is a powerful song, especially off mic (and the bottom line is a small enough club for them to do it). Once again you will all descend upon Syracuse to enjoy a wonderful little concert. For those of you driving to Styleen's (which is basically everyone), there is VERY little parking near the club. There is a parking lot on the same block but down the street and one just of the Armory Square circle (got that one? the street goes around in a circle, okay?). Street parking is tough, most likely you will be walking at least 5 or 6 blocks if you don't park in a lot. Also, for those of you who don't feel comfortable in 'less-desirable' parts of town, avoid the south side. Basically, if you find yourself on South Salina street, don't leave the commercial (downtown) area or cross either W or E Adams street. Find yourself in Syracuse during the day and want something to do? On Rt 81, follow signs to Carousel Mall (soon to be the biggest mall in the US, pending a vote). We do have a pretty cool zoo off Rt 690, follow the signs. - -The preferred coffee shop is Happy Endings and the music shop is the Soundgarden, both with a few (2-3) blocks of Styleen's. - -Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, just off Erie Blvd at Clinton square, is the BEST honky-tonk BBQ joint; it is a biker place at heart but a family restaurant for real (very loud inside). - -Syracuse Skychiefs minor league baseball team plays Indianapolis at 7 pm at P & C stadium. The first 1500 kids 12 and under in get a free batting helmet. Tickets are <$6 a piece at the door. The ballpark is at the same exit off 81 as the mall. - -The Empire Expo Center (aka, NYS Fairgrounds) is hosting a Syracuse Nationals Car Show all day. - -A drive of just under an hour north on Rt 481 brings you into Harborfest in Oswego. It is a city wide party with bands on many stages, food, rides and everything. Finally, does anyone want to golf before the concert? Email me and I'll put something together, nothing too expensive. I think it'll be fun, so let me know. Just in case you feel scared embarrassing yourself in front of strangers (früheads, keep in mind), I shot a 125 on July 4 with a couple of my drives going all of 20 yards or so. Any other questions, let me know! later, tom. Mayor Rudolph Giuliani said residents should not be alarmed by the discovery of infected mosquitoes or the ground spraying of pesticides that can cause breathing problems for the elderly and people with respiratory problems. ``The public should not have a great deal of apprehension,'' Giuliani said at news conference Monday. ``Go about your lives normally, but for one night, stay out of the park.'' The spraying canceled a free performance by the New York Philharmonic, which had been expected to draw 30,000 people. Mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus were also found on Staten Island. The discovery of infected mosquitoes marks the first time that the deadly virus has been found in mosquitoes in the city this year. The virus was found earlier this summer in birds and mosquitoes in the suburbs around the city. Spraying previously scheduled for Staten Island on Monday night and parts of Queens and Brooklyn on Tuesday will also take place. The West Nile virus killed seven people and infected 62 others in the New York metropolitan area last year. Questions or Comments Copyright © 2000 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
