Dana goes over to her and asks what she's playing on her CD (though of course she knows perfectly well what it is) and when the girl looks at her like she's crazy and says "Britney Spears," kind of snottily, Dana rolls her eyes and says "Oh god, that's what i was afraid of." I'm a little worried she will be somewhat ostracized but who knows, maybe she'll turn all the little 10-year-olds onto Fru instead??? I am afraid it may be a long two weeks. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 23 Jul 2000 20:03:15 GMT From: "Chris K @*_*@" Subject: Review of Mariposa from web page This was taken from http://www.gordonlightfoot.com Other related links: photos from festival (note the misspelling *g*): http://www.mariposafolkfestival.com/felm.html Toronto Star Review of Gordon Lightfoot: http://www.thestar.com/thestar/back_issues/ED20000710/entertainment/20000710LFE01_EN-FOLK10.html Lightfoot Appears At 40th Mariposa Folk Festival Headline Performer on Saturday July 8 Gordon Lightfoot, who appeared at the second Mariposa Folk Festival in 1962 as a member of the folk duo the Two Tones (with Terry Whelan), headlined the 40th Mariposa Folk Festival during the three day festival being held on Friday, July 7 through Sunday, July 9. Lightfoot was the featured performer on Saturday night, performing a full festival set accompanied by his regular band. The Mariposa festival was returning to its original home in Orillia, Ontario, Canada, also Lightfoot's birthplace. The festival has been held in other Ontario locations since 1963. Among the many other fine performers scheduled for the three day festival were at least two who have covered Lightfoot songs. Sunday night's headliner was Moxy Früvous, an Ontario group which frequently performs Early Mornin' Rain in concert, much to the delight of their fans. Another act, the five member Mundy's Bay Grog League, covered Ode To Big Blue on their album Songs Of The Sea. Are there any plans in the near future for Moxy to venture back to the Occidental Midwest? Was the show at Martyr's a bad experience for the boys? I wanted to go, but I was Montague in a performance of Romeo and Juliet, and there wasn't anything I could do to make it to either show, or the one in Madison later. We had performances at the same time as Moxy all three of those nights. All we(a few fru-tripping buddies and me) could do when we were faced with the realization that we couldn't go to see Moxy was to wait until they come around again. Well, they haven't. I know that the boys have an aversion to the more receptive regions of the northeast, Canada, and a bit of the West Coast, but it's also known that any show around here(IL, IA, WI, IN, MO, MN) would be packed, and VERY appreciated. I kind of feel excluded from the Moxy scene lately, and all of us soda-saying midwesterners need our fix of live Fruvous. Please let me know what is going on. I would hugely appreciate it!
