Oh, I'm so glad someone else shared my initial reaction. The only thing that prevents me from doing so is I'm too lazy to reference the FAQ. That said: READ THE GODDAM FAQ! Ever get to a concert a half hour after it was scheduled to start to find out you were the first one there? Guess last Thursday was procastination day in Albany... in the hour after I got there more than 100 people showed up. Weird. Though I'm not sure if it's weirder than a restaurant that has a pair of twenty-something girls wandering around from table to table singing Italian opera pieces and the like... but that's a story for a different life i guess. Any way.. I've found as the number of weekly Reader's Choice voters grow, songs are finding it tougher to move through the charts before the time comes for them to be voted off, so we'll see what happens when more new songs are added every week... we got 4 this time. "Radio Whore"- This new guy is so new I haven't even gotten the CD from Orbit to make a sound clip yet... but it just rocks so hard. :-) Apple Computer was kind enough to write an article about the band and put up a sound clip of the song (as well as a few others and a full music video) here- http://www.apple.com/hotnews/articles/2000/07/orbit/ "Goodnight Moon"- I immediately thought of Victoria Williams when I first heard this song by Shivaree. Kinda folk, kinda alt-pop, kinda blues. Definitely worth checking out. "Dinosaurs Will Die"- One of those catchy fast punk tunez that talks about the end of the music industry as the record execs know it, by NOFX. :-) "Soul Catcher"- The The's latest effort... pretty straightforward stuff... but the second band new to the list this week that is anti-corporate record label/stuff. Finally off Sony, they're answering to Trent and nothing records now. :-) Check out http://www.thethe.com/toc.html and here's the list- - ------------------------------------ Reader's Choice http://www.bumrock.com/rc/ - ------------------------------------ 1) Tonight And The Rest Of My Life- Nina Gordon (55.16) 2) Change- Deftones (29.6) 3) Sparks Are Gonna Fly- Catherine Wheel (29.23) 4) Barrytown- Ben Folds Five (24.73) 5) Porcelain- Moby (22.12) 6) Happier- Guster (21.67) 7) Boyz In The Hood- Dynamite Hack (21.46) 8) Godless- Dandy Warhols (20.18) 9) Out Of This World- The Cure (19.36) 10) Mayan Pilot- Splashdown (19.33) Screaming "Let Me In!" - ---------------------- Eliot- Sarah Slean My Music At Work- Tragically Hip Stellar- Incubus Simple Kind Of Life- No Doubt Now That I Am Blind- Deathray How Soon Is Now- Snake River Conspiracy Just Like Fred Astaire- James Pumping On Your Stereo- Supergrass Radio Whore- Orbit Goodnight Moon- Shivaree Dinosaurs Will Die- NOFX Soul Catcher- The The Loser- 3 Doors Down Warm Machine- Bush Don't Think Of Me- Dido The Real Slim Shady- Eminem Vulcan- Snake River Conspiracy Automatic- Collapsis Point Breeze- Marah *** AND DON'T FORGET TO VOTE FOR NEXT WEEK'S SONGS!!! *** http://www.bumrock.com/rc/vote.html keep on rockin! - -dan goodspeed Editor of BUMrock editor@bumrock.com http://www.bumrock.com/ ------------------------------ Date: 19 Jul 2000 19:12:23 GMT From: limezinger@aol.complicates (sonic death monkey) Subject: Re: Murphy's Law >So, since I thought about that, Murphy's Law will work and >all of a sudden all of you will post like 7 things a day. :) shouldn't that be _murray's law_? ...just because.... it sounds better? sarah linnellgirl@tmbg.org http://brazen.org/starcookie/ "look it up on the web, kids!" - andy "no kids. don't." - conan ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Jul 2000 23:16:57 -0400 From: Tom Fazzio Subject: Decisions to be made (yeah right...) Hiya all! Once again it is I, the Fonze (also, more legally, known as Tom Fazzio), hear to spread rumours and speak up for a heart of New York - - Syracuse. As we all (should) know, Moxy Früvous is playing at Styleen's in Syracuse next Saturday, July 29th. All I have to say is thank you, I was afraid the FrüCrew had long forgotten about the Salt City. Now I have to bug them about getting up to Potsdam! But the point of my little interruption to the 'normal' life of amm-f readers is this: Friday August 31 poses a little dilemma. Everyone's favorite non-teen band (no, not Hanson because I think they count as a teen band now), Moxy Früvous is at Milestones that day (and the 2 nights before). In Utica that very same Friday night an all-star line up is playing: Ani Defranco, moe., Martin Sexton and Great Big Sea. I don't have any more information on that little festival right now, sorry. Just thought I would pass that nugget of knowledge on to any random lurker who might be interested. BTW - I plan on seeing EVERYONE here in Syracuse next weekend. I dare you to come here! I'm coming out to Rochester all three nights so you all should come here for just this one night! [in the classic Back To The Future voice:] What, are ya yellow? later, tom. ------------------------------ Date: 20 Jul 2000 01:23:11 GMT From: bbwminors@aol.com (BBWMinors) Subject: Re: High School Fuckers Am I the only person who read this and thought to themselves ...
