I wasn't saying that there was (I've never heard their music, so who am I to judge?), I was just saying that I get a little peeved when I look for Fruvous CDs and I find them mixed in with other CDs instead of in a nice, neat little group. So I go to the AMG guide for Fruvous, and find band members Tom Lehrer, Mike Ford, Murry Foster, Jean Ghomeshi, David Matheson, *and* Michael Ford. Gee, I always thought *one* Mike Ford was enough! Maybe AMG is counting the "Lou" persona as another member. As for Tom Lehrer, since he retired from performing in 1967, that's just a case of the usual internet garbage - don't believe everything you read. That said, I HIGHLY recommend the new boxed set retrospective of Tom Lehrer's work, "The Remains of Tom Lehrer". A 3CD set containing essentially everything he ever released, plus some rarities and other goodies. Any other Lehrer fans out there? TWO nights at the Bottom Line, one show only!! Woo Hoo!!!! Me! :) Actually, I think many ppl have heard Tom Lehrer's songs if they were watching "The Electric Company" in the 70s - they used the songs "Silent E" and "L-Y." However, the first time I really got into his music was in 1987 when Dr. Demento played "We Will All Go Together." My other fave song is "The Vatican Rag." Here's a little something that is at once complimentary to what she posted, and a little redundent. Here goes. Windsor 6/26: a Non-Review by mcee "You will never work in this town again." You could practically hear the unspoken threat to Fruvous curtesy of the good City of Windsor. All that because of manure. Yup. When Fruvous hit the stage an adequate ten minutes late, it was to face an empty parterre. The rectangle of grass directly in front of the stage which is usually filled with -well- *us*, was, to put it positively, less than populated. Try perfectly empty. Not that the expected relatively small crowd didn't show up. We were all there, midly pissed off as well. Here's where things went to sh*t -- literally. The city's landscaping department (or something to that effect), in a flamboyant example of foresight and clairvoyance, wisely decided to lay fresh *sod* in the exact area where, for an entire week of Canada Day festivities, Canadian and American fans alike would stomp and dance and generally party down. Now this is funny to me for all kinds of reasons. I had travelled from Toronto that day and was planning on making the same trip back the very same night. I was tired, and alarmingly giddy. I had met up with my wonderful Ohio people and we had just enjoyed a very jarring ride in the Gravitron. I was still feeling the effect on my vital organs and I was ready for a Fruvous show. I hadn't seem them (well, a show) since Darien Lake, which is another beef altogether. To add to the embarassment, the PA, having been sufficiently rained on all day, proceeded to pop in and out for most of the first three songs, then occasionally for the rest of the set. Jian, true to himself, hinted many times that the audience should just, en masse, run down the fences and "express their freedom". Which they did, and during I Will Hold On of all songs. (our Dave has a theory: IWHO inspires riots; which, I must admit, isn't totally devoid of sense.) Fruvous and fans were triumphants and vindicated. Almost. Come the encore, in lieu of the usually short wait followed by the inevitable return of the band, the "house" music came on and the lights went up. Fruvous had been told, if not in so many words, that their gracing us with a few extra songs was not necessarily, and that they should just pack up and go home. To the festival's credit, I must say that they were not a big bad bunch o' meanies. The staff, overall, was very nice and helpful, the rides were fun --if a little expensive-- and they didn't charge us the promised $2 entry. And I can now say that I've seen Security CHASE fans away from a Moxy Fruvous stage. -- Tomorrow, cloudy, a high of 29, and a light Plague of Frogs in late afternoon. Peace out, mcee (who hasn't written a review in 2 years and who expects to be given a break) PS--> Sheryl, you're the sketch queen. *bow* ------------------------------ Date: 30 Jun 2000 21:15:07 GMT From: leaben@aol.comBender (Leah Bender) Subject: re: We are selling software: Steph said: >What can I say?
