I won't be reachable by e-mail at all between 6/24 and 6/28, and between 7/31 and 8/8. Thereafter, I'll be at my regular address again. They closed down the main block in downtown and held attractions like skateboarding, paintball, fake sumo-wrestling, and the reason i was there- live music. Particularly one of my favorite bands- Orbit. After the show lead singer Jeff Lowe Robbins explained to me the band's current situation. It seems Orbit completely recorded and made a CD for A&M right before Interscope bought out A&M and dropped Orbit (along with more than 100 labelmates). So now the album isn't being released- Interscope won't release it, but the contract says Orbit doesn't have a right to release it for several years because they don't "own" their recording. Damn record labels. For you local Albany, NY area folk, you may have noticed Metroland is doing its yearly "Best of the Capital Region" poll... and that one of the topics is "best local website". i've had several readers tell me that they voted for BUMrock for that category. i didn't even think about it, but it would just blow my mind if BUMrock even gets a mention in the final Metroland write-up, when the site is maybe 10% done. Let's just say it would encourage me to put even more effort into getting her off the ground. For those who want to vote, just pick up a Metroland, fill out the poll inside of it, and get it back to them before July 3. Thanks in advance for everyone who votes. :-) hey! speaking of readers voting... there's thing called Reader's Choice that's getting bigger and just that much more exciting every week. Well, there are three cool new songs on this week- "Sparks Are Gonna Fly"- the real first single from Catherine Wheel... it's a cool, rockin tune. "Vulcan"- there's not many songs out there that i'd describe as an "assault on your ears" and mean it as a compliment. This chick rock band pulls it off. "Just Like Fred Astaire"- i don't think James is ever gonna live up to "laid" fame again, but this one, like most James singles, still holds its own. here's what ya'll voted for- - ------------------------------------ Reader's Choice http://www.bumrock.com/rc/ - ------------------------------------ 1) Porcelain- Moby (44.16) 2) Pumping On Your Stereo- Supergrass (40.5) 3) The Real Slim Shady- Eminem (39.42) 4) Simple Kind Of Life- No Doubt (34.64) 5) Boyz In The Hood- Dynamite Hack (33.62) 6) Tonight And The Rest Of My Life- Nina Gordon (30.14) 7) Automatic- Collapsis (27) 8) Point Breeze- Marah (25.49) 9) Godless- Dandy Warhols (23.48) 10) Don't Think Of Me- Dido (20.76) Screaming "Let Me In!" - ---------------------- Change- Deftones Charm Attack- Leona Naess My Music At Work- Tragically Hip Visine- PJ Olsson Warm Machine- Bush Mope- Bloodhound Gang Kryptonite- 3 Doors Down Sparks Are Gonna Fly- Catherine Wheel Vulcan- Snake River Conspiracy Just Like Fred Astaire- James Mean To Me- Tonic Bent- Matchbox Twenty Gasoline- Catherine Wheel Take A Look Around- Limp Bizkit Saw Red- Long Beach Dub Allstars Wonderful- Everclear *** AND DON'T FORGET TO VOTE FOR NEXT WEEK'S SONGS!!! *** http://www.bumrock.com/rc/vote.html until next week... ya'll rock! - -dan goodspeed Editor of BUMrock editor@bumrock.com http://www.bumrock.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Jun 2000 14:26:58 -0400 From: Vote Your Uterus Subject: Re: BUMrock Reader's Choice 6/18/00 On Tue, 20 Jun 2000 16:44:13 GMT, Dan Goodspeed took three hits of acid and hallucinated the following "scary-ass" scenario: Dave..
