So will just be in regular > hippie chick regalia. Pix forbidden? Where do you think all the other pix you see online come from? Flashes bug the band. They don't mind if you take pictures sans flash though. I'd say especially outside. If you get right up in their faces while they are performing, that also makes them nervous and so is not cool, but as long as you are desecrate and don't get in anyone else's way there is nothing wrong with taking pictures. This makes actors, etc., forget their lines *and* where they're standing-- not such a great idea when most stages are 4/5 feet above ground! Parents, loving though they may be, are often the worst offenders... use camcorders if you have to at shows. ~MJ/truztno1 ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 31 May 2000 17:36:51 -0400 From: Paul Mischler Subject: Re: Herndon question ... Pix forbidden? Since when? ;-) I can't recall a concert where pictures have been forbidden. Flash pictures are a bad idea at all times because it is extremely distracting. I was at the Great Big Sea show in Rochester this past April, and I was disgusted by the number of camera waving people there[1]. Not that I mind people taking pictures, but because these people were flashing away with reckless abandon. It was enough to make any epileptic person curl up and have a seizure. Personally, I would have stopped the concert there and then. Often, there will be signs at Fruvous shows saying "No flash photography", or an announcement to that effect. I can't recall a sow where taking pictures was 100% banned. Oh, and speaking of Frupics, be on the lookout for a new post of pictures sometime in the next day or so. - -Paul Mischler [1] Maybe I was just in a bad mood because a couple of wenches had jumped in front of me before the show had started, and refused to move, and I was too nice a person to remove them with force. I remember there being one but it's not on the setlist! Just a side note: Amy's Cafe benefit (the Sat evening show) sold out long before Fruvous was finished at the signing table post-show.. I'm not sure how many tickets they sold before the set, but I heard people at the merch table looking for tickets after it :) (There were only 160-200 tickets available) Another side note: Murray mentioned at the signing table that Fruvous would be playing on Canada Day at Kew Gardens in Toronto! *bounce* Sat night (Amy's Orchid Cafe) Nowhere Man Substitute (the rest of this set is in no particular order due to faulty memory *g*) Superstitious (Stevie Wonder version.. Mike sang lead.. *wow*) Play that Funky Music White Boy Lose that Girl That Boy (the guys wandered outside to the dancing crowd during this song, Jian apparently plopping himself into some lady's lap while they were singing, then the guys came back in through the back door, pointing to a guy in the back row as "that boy" before returning to the stage) "the blood begins to flow" jam - this started from a comment from Dave; Jian came up with a drumbeat to go with it, and the guys started this *really* extended jam that just kept going! - -songs in this jam included: various Beatles tunes, Like a Virgin, some song that Murray said "I know the chorus really well" but couldn't remember the verses, "the blood begins to flow" theme, and a LOT of other songs I can't remember.. anyone help me here? (Jonathan? Tom? Doug?) Authors Car The Oatmeal Song Psycho Encore: Brown Eyed Girl (where we were told "sitting is NOT necessary"- too bad they didn't tell us that before, I spent the entire show bouncing in my chair!) Second encore: Drinking Song By the time this show ended it was past 2:30am.. and the guys had to be at the Sunday morning workshop for 11:15 - I felt really sorry for them. Sunday morning workshop ("A Complete History of Music:Baroque Through the Eisenhower Era") - keep in mind they were also answering questions off and on during this set :) (Jian's setlist) BJ Spidey (with Mike taking off before the song even started and beginning the song from the middle of the crowd near the back.. getting a woman in the crowd to juggle, and doing the "eight legs good, two legs bad... justice for arachnids!" bit that I don't think I'd ever heard live before *g*) Rush (GMIA) Kidz Fly (skipped due to time constraints) Booty Tender Guinea (one of the only two songs repeated the entire weekend!) Tureen Sauce (the second of the only two songs repeated all weekend) Lazy Dance (Dancing Queen) When told they had time for "one more song", they huddled in the middle of the stage and consulted. I was hoping for Message (which I'd requested the night before), but they went one better... a song "we don't normally do on-mic"... GULF WAR SONG!! - What an *incredible* way to end my trip to CA *happy sigh* There were a few laughs at the first "don't tell me I can't fight" but for the most part there was silence.. just *gorgeous* I will eventually post a full-fledged review, but hopefully this gives you guys a taste of what this weekend was like :) Drea (I want to go back to Strawberry again and again and again!)
