You can all hate me later. Or now, whichever works best for you. Well, how is everyone doing on this fine ____(insert date that you open this e-mail and read it , ie: Monday) ___ _______(insert time of day that aforementioned event takes place , ie: afternoon)_____? For those of you that did not attend, the event sucked, it was horrible, terrible, everyone started fighting, then the police came, riots broke out, fires were started. You should consider yourselves lucky that you didn't have to attend. (Or, if you like that type of thing, please tell me, so that I can delete you from my random e-mailing list) If you did not attend, uhm, no need to read any further. There's nothing to see there. Nothing at all. Now , for those of you that actually attended. Thanks for coming :) I hope you all had a good time. Maybe next time I'll actually try to organize things to do, I know I should, I'm just too damned lazy to actually do it. The day started off with me thinking "ahhhh,, I should just sleep another 10 minutes,,,,, What the?! It's 11:00 already? Oh yeah, I went to bed at 4 am." I then ran around (to make it look like I had been busily doing something) and went upstairs. Parental units were extremely nice in the fact that not only were they allowing me to yet again have another gathering of friends, but also help in cleaning up a bit to make the place look only 'lived-in' , and not 'disaster area' that I tend to make things look like. After doing a bit of cleaning up, I checked the time, 2:00 , "Good, plenty of time to go and get booze and ice and chips , we're all slackers, no one will actually show up at 3:00" And yes, I was right, no one would show up at 3:00 , no, Iambe and Del and Doug and Steph (if anyone tells me that you are not supposed to use that many and's together, I will tell them they obviously don't have enough work to do, and quit bugging me 8) ) decide to show up at 2:45. Exactly 5 minutes before I get back from picking up the drinks. Things are starting out swell. UFies and FruHeads helped me remove the booze and chips from the truck and soon started to gather. Well, actually, Iambe and Del magically vanished. Leaving Doug and Step alone in my house. Yes , alone, you see, I needed to have a shower, so I disappeared too :) Next to arrive was Tiggersol , Arc and uhm, forgive me for not remembering, Arcter_Woman. I will call her that because I really can't remember what her name was. (You see, she was a taken woman, and people that are already taken I store their names in a separate part of the brain, leaving the quick access to women's names that aren't taken.) Everyone proceeded to enjoy the wonderful weather that we always have out here in BC. Yes, visitors, every day is just that nice. We just let the media say otherwise so as to scare you all away. While people were enjoying the weather on the deck outside, my father thought it was best time to start up the leaf blower and clean off the deck. I noticed this , as everyone suddenly bolted back inside. I can't really remember who showed up next, and even if I could, I have run out of intelligent things to say to introduce them, so , in no particular order (please note that all these people are happily coupled, once again proving my theory of not remembering names/details about coupled peoples) Hollee and Argh , Pommie and Keth , and the encore appearance of Iambe and Del. More sitting on the deck, occurred, along with some frisbee (TM) tossing and me trying hard to be a host. Okay, not trying hard to be a host, rather, trying hard to remain awake. The Food. Knowing how some people just hate chinese food. And some people can't eat pizza for all 21 of their meals per week. (Breakfast , lunch and dinner, pizza, it's the only choice). I thought it be best if both were ordered. We were all introduced to Doug's Pizza (TM) green peppers , tomato chunks , ground beef , cheese , pepperoni , red dye no. 4 , and of course , slug bait. (Anyone still sick?) As an added treat (to some , to others , a queasy stomache just by looking at it) I picked up some sushi. Well, american sushi, I wasn't sure how much of a sushi lover these people would be :) Off I went to pick up the orders (three places damnit, why aren't there any Chinese/Pizza/Sushi restaurants around? Actually , if there was such a beast, I would be scared,,,,very very scared) When I returned, Tiggersol had vanished. I still don't know what happened to him. Maybe the Frisbee (TM) got tossed too hard and he's still out getting it. My friend Paul (a FruHead from the good ole indy tape days) (And he was wearing a FruVest!) then showed up. I don't have much to say, as he also left next. But , since he is my friend, and since I'm typing this up, I'm including him. You could have skipped over this paragraph, but it's too late now. Besides, it only took you what? 15 seconds? Sheesh. Hrmmm, Tanya showed up, then left, then returned with Renita. Pool playing was going on, and several people were introduced to the wonders of japanese TV. Iron Chef. All I know is that I left the room, came back and everyone was sitting on couches or the floor, watching two oriental people (and Robert DeNiro) battle it out with spatulas and chopsticks and fish heads (fish heads , rolly poll fish heads , fish heads fish heads , eat them up , yummmm) Arbie showed up, said hello, and then left in the damned big bread truck. Oh yeah, he danced a polka. (Is this a polka? I don't knowka!- Dave Matheson) We all decided to watch Mystery Men, then decided to wait, then I threw in a Fruvous Video (Actual Fruvous content! Wow!) And then the MM viewing got delayed , and then everyone decided to leave. They'd had enough, and I'd forgotten to bar the doors. Well, almost everybody left. Doug , Neek , Tanya and Hester remained. They needed to see Mystery Men for their lives to be complete. And Tanya needed to use the hot tub ( I feel so used) . The movie started around 2ish. The movie ended around 4ish. I threw pillows blankets and a crappy little foam mattress at them and said "I'm going down to my wonderful room, and will not come back out until I feel like it" I don't know what happened until around noon the next day. I awoke, and only Doug and Neek remained. I don't know what happened to the other two, and, for fear of my own safety, I did not ask Doug and Neek. But please note. They were not hungry and did not want anything *more* to eat. Some of you may be wondering why I am writing this e-mail to you all. Let me say that it is not because you were all drugged immediately upon entering the house. Nor were you played with and treated as my dolls. It's not like I am trying to reinforce any planted memories. No. Nothing like that at all. A few notes on the *ahem* party: - -During the Frisbee gaming , Del could only throw perfect passes to Arcterex. Something that Iambe and Arcter_Woman should possibly take note on. - -I work for Robert DeNiro, at my place of work, where Robert DeNiro is the boss. - -The Seattle Fru-Crew had problems with their passports and were refused entry to this country. They will be flown back to their houses in plush helicopters, at our taxpayers expense. Their vehicle will also be flown back. - -If you have a Fruvous party, expect to have more UFies than FruHeads. Do not question this. - -If you try to be funny, and write stupid e-mails you will get more guests. "Dude, just for the hilarity of your email I'll do my damdest to be there :)" , Which makes me wonder, if I was actually funny, would more people have come? - -When purchasing mass quantities of alcohol at the cold beer and wine store, if the salesperson asks "Are you having a party?" do not say "No, I just want to get really drunk tonight" - -Do not purchase alcohol put on the counter by people that you don't know. They may try to take it back after you pay for it. - -Two people that replied to my e-mails said "Later Skater" am I conveying the image of a skater somehow in my e-mails? If so, I am sorry to have shattered that illusion by meeting you in person. - -When asking for a million dollars, do not expect to get it. Or , expect to be disheartened. - -When starting a long e-mail before lunch , stop half way through, eat lunch , come back and finish writing, making the e-mail even more disjointed. - - TNT or T&T , I have no idea, makes the best fruit sponge cakes. Thanks again Hollee and Argh. - - Ask everyone for $9 for dinner, then when they give you $10 , don't give them any change. Don't worry, you already think of yourself as an asshole, this now lets them think that as well. - -Write alot of crap, everyone enjoys reading it. You can tell this by their lack of response. That's all for now. Next featured guest is ^kat^ of internet radio fame. This should happen around July 8th. Please feel free to pass this e-mail on to anyone that may show interest in coming to the next one. It should surely squash all interest. However if you are still interested in attending, or if you just want to write to complain of all the time I took up and the wasted bandwidth and what not ( I don't care, I just love getting e-mails) write to me mike96@bluecrow.com . Do it now, you know you want to. And remember, the party really did happen. If it is a memory , it had to happen. They *used* to have a deal like that, however, it was waaaay before Six Flags ever took it over. I can remember my parents paying a certain price for non-ride admission for them (and the kids paid for the ride admission at the gate and wore bracelets to get on the rides). You got the best deal after 5pm where you would get into the park for a really discounted price to just walk around. (like $4.99 or $5.99). And since the concert took place inside the park and not in the theatre, I thought this would still apply. I also remember purchasing tickets from Ticketron (in 1991) for concerts at Darien Lake that allowed you into the park 2 hours before the show to ride the rides (regular concert ticket price) or you could purchase a combo pass for an all-day + concert ticket thing which was more expensive (which cost around $29). This must be what they are doing now. > Lastly, ON the DL site it lists the park as > only being open until 8pm. (I saw them there a couple of years ago, along with the Indigo Girls.) There were some problems with wiring/sound/equipment, etc., but overall, it was a great environment. Anyone who can get ther should give it a shot. Here are the details: Appel Farms Arts and Music Festival Saturday, June 3, 2000 11:30am - 8:00pm www.appelfarm.org 1-800-394-1211 Appel Farm is located at 457 Shirley Rd. Elmer, NJ There are directions on their website, if I recall. Advance tickets are $28.00 for adults and $24.00 for students and seniors Free for childrean 12 and under (there is a Childrens Village, but no daycare) Tickets are $4.00 more than above when purchased at the gate. There's free parking, but unless you're there at 8:00am, plan on hiking. It's an open air show with 12 other acts, including Mary Chapin and the Asylum Street Spankers (they're supposed to be quite funny) and John Gorka. Fruvous will be appearing on the Meadow Stage (there are two stage areas- the Meadow stage is the biggest) at approx 3:15pm. Speaking from previous experience, I'd say it will be later than that- by the time the closing act got onstage last time, it was over 1hr45mins into overtime. There are no chairs (Meadow means MEADOW- grass and dirt!) and they search everyone's coolers and baskets and such for alcohol. That takes FOREVER. The food was not too overpriced, but I'd definately bring a cooler and lots of drinks. Lowback beach chairs and blankets are good, too, but I remember not being able to see much becuase of a few full size beach umbrellas, so do the hat-and-sunscreen thing. Anyway, I hope someone sees this and decides to come out for it- it's a very personal, friendl environment, and it's definately worth it. (And no, I don't work for Appel Farms or anything- I was searching for Fruvous on the Web and decided to pass the info along.) If anyone wants any more advice/been-there, done that kinda thing, my email addy's at the bottom. Hope you get there!
