[delurk...] Victoria - I was never able to view the Fruvous videos on Burleybear either. I'm running RealAudio7 (the eval version) on Win95 with IE 5. Each time I try to access a video I get "Unable to connect to the server. Check network transport settings or run auto-configure." Running auto-configure doesn't help. Even went as far as to purchase the commercail version of RA7. No luck. Happens over both a dial-up and T1 connection. The folks at RealAudio say "Yeah, it happens sometimes". Any ideas? My name is Susan, I live in Harrisburg PA. I've been an avid fan of the lads since hearing KOS on WXPN in 8/97. Have all the CDs and have been to 6 shows (I've threatened to quit my job and follow the lads full time but neither my boss nor my hubby understand. My husband's a fan as well, but reserves his fanaticisim for the Dead instead.) I'll be going solo to the Wilmington show tomorrow (nothing like waiting til the last possible minute to post this, huh?), arriving well before the show, so if anyone else wants to hang out pre-show, give me a holler. Thanks to all of you for being out out there!! Reading this group has kept me sane during this latest Fruvous drought (haven't seen them since Collingswood last November). Take care - Susan ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2000 11:03:50 GMT From: Sally Subject: Re: Blurb in Now Magazine Sara wrote: > > > Also coming in May: a 30-minute documentary on Fruvous via news- magazine show > > CBS Sunday Morning. Wait even more, CBS Sunday Morning? Should I be thinking CBS channel 2 (for us New Yorkers) or am I just way too hopeful that they'll be getting air time in a place that I won't have to jump a plane to watch? Either way, way to go Früvous :) *sally* Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2000 03:23:13 GMT From: Marie-Claude Danis Subject: OT: Attention Linguistics majors! Yes, OT. Funky, eh? :) First off, I'd like to pat myself on the shoulder for being such a loyal Senators fan. Pushing it even to going to our fave pub tonight, with my jersey-clad hausmates, and watching the Leafs get a beating. Life is good. But more to the point: This chick here is considering doing a schizophrenic change school-wise, and needs to be reassured of her sudden craziness. My focus is Linguistics. If anyone here has taken Linguistics as a major or else, would you care to share your wealth of knowledge with this unfortunate former film student? If so email me at mcee2k@yahoo.com. Thanks! I land on those sweet USA shores May 30th & will just be able to catch the Appel Farm festival!! I'm very excited! Does anyone know whenabouts the guys will be performing? I'd hate to get there later than planned to find I'd missed them! Also, does anyone know what the setup is like? Is it a Falcon Ridge style place with sheets sprawled out all over the place, some deckchairs & parasols etc :) Or is it a 'lots of chairs arranged neatly' type place? Isn't this a huge deal? Am I just the last to know. I am assuming this will be aired in the States, but does anyone know when and where exactly? Nov ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2000 16:15:11 GMT From: Heybun@aol.com Subject: Re: Appel farm Appel Farm is very organized. There are 2 stages separated by the crafts and food, so the sound doesn't bleed from one stage to the other. In the seating area of the larger stage, it is organized by blanket sitters, sun chair sitters, regular chair sitters, and regular chair sitters with umbrellas. One of the best Fruvous performances I've seend was at the Appel Farm small stage when the sound system wouldn't cooperate. The guys pretty much goofed around thru their set time and it was a lot of fun. Haven't seen a schedule for performing times yet, but it doesn't begin until 11:30 am - excellent for late sleepers. Here's the deal on Appel Farm - There are two stages, Meadow (big) and Grove (smaller). Fruvous is scheduled for 3:15 on the Meadow stage and it looks like their set will be about 1 hour & 15 minutes. Note that Appel always says "schedule is subject to change", but in the 9 out of the 11 Appel Festivals I've been to, I've never seen much of a change except one year when they ran into some problems and had to cut a couple sets short. They set up both stages with a "no chairs/blankets only" area in front, then chairs behind that. It's pretty orderly. The Meadow stage is so big now that they have a second set of speakers about midway in the field; it seats thousands - I mean like 10 or 15. Go to www.appelfarm.org for all the details and ticket info. Ordering in advance gets you a $4.00 discount. In answer to Sally: Yes, I do think it's ch. 2 CBS Sunday Morning we're talking about here (at least I hope). 2 possible reasons for not celebrating all over the place- 1) some of us haven't gotten up that early in *months* (and if we have, most definately not to watch the Sun. Morn. program- really depends on who the target audience is), and 2) lack of information (though that doesn't seem to keep us from speculating about the C album.... hmmm). Me, I'm still kicking myself for not setting the VCR right and missing Conan last time (damn baseball!!!!). As for listings, I guess we'll have to rely on FDC... both Ultimate TV and TV Guide don't list the features of news programs such as "Sunday Morning," and only list up to 2 weeks in advance. Knowing this show, though, I have a feeling it's going to be something not to be missed! ~MJ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Apr 2000 03:36:11 GMT From: neil@nospam.flipse.com (Neil Bardhan) Subject: Yay!
