Anyone who enjoys this neighborhood (not to mention those who house their pages here) is part of a large extended family - and Josh is part of that family. Lori is absolutely right - a dollar or two or so from all of us would keep FHDC up and running for a long time. Tim & I donated at the on-set of FHDC & check regularly to see if Josh is in the red or black. Given the number of extended family members at FHDC, and how much everyone seems to enjoy it, it's time to give back to 'our family', it's just not fair for Josh to have to foot the bill. I am posting after a wild weekend of Matthew Sweet shows *siiiiigh* and wanted to drop a note here about something funny that happened on St. Patrick's Day. Headed over to a place in downtown Chicago called House of Beer (aw hell yeah) because Matthew was slated to do a live performance there for WXRT's St. Patty's Day party, along with Grant from Grant Lee Buffalo and some local shmuck band... well, I got there ridiculously early and just sort of sat around out of everyone's way as they set up, and met the shmuck band, who were actually cool guys and they were celebrating the holiday by being a U2 tribute- cool considering the lead singer was black :) He did a MEAN Bono though!!!:):) So anyway, Matthew plays, and then they announce that Grant Lee is sick, and they've called in Luka Bloom to take his place-- Luka, who is ONLY my favorite "folk" singer on the planet... I was very close, probably blew out the eardrum of the on air guy there :) So, Luka goes on and does one of the songs from his current CD, then a short interview, then he introes his next song by saying "I'd like to sing ya all an old Swedish folk song, ya?" (silly boy) then goes into "Dancing Queen." I kid you not!!!!! It was sooo wild (and very appreciated, I was wearing my I Canadian Boys shirt). A few hours later I was reflecting- wonder if he listened to Fruvous's version on the Fleadh tour, as he played right before them on the same stage, at least in Chicago...
