For me it's Mitsou, Boyo, and (the band) Mountain dew. Once in a moment of insanity I bought Big Shiny Tunes 2 and Dance Mix 96 and I've regretted it ever since. I had no idea why I even bought them although I was still in the stage when I didn't know what band sang my favorite song. I suppose I had some notion that I may get some good leads for I was of the opinion that the band that I didn't even know I was obsessed with had to be famous. - -- Cara Kozack "Get Out The Eggs. THE Stu Hamm! Wow! Cool. Stu Hamm is a very good bass player. He played on most of Joe Satriani's albums and Steve Vai's solo albums (both those guys are wicked guitar fiends). I think I picked up Stu's solo album ("The Urge" if I remember correctly) for like $2 at some used records store. Good thing, too, since a Gas Out as they describe would have no impact on oil companies. If you just move your "buy gasoline" time to before or after the "Gas Out" dates, you haven't changed the amount of money the oil companies get, you just adjusted when it showed up. I suspect the originator of this (not you Bridget, but the person who sent this out to start with...I've received it in my email 3 times so far) just likes to see how widespread he/she can make an email get. > >Even if you receive this 100 times keep passing >it around, this way you know everyone is being >informed and no one will forget!!!!!!!!!! > Yeah, that's a good tipoff there. If you want to do a Gas Out that WILL have an effect, decide to NOT USE GASOLINE on those days. Stay home. Ride a bike. Walk. Take the Bus, or Subway. Read a Book. Do anything except drive your car or motorcycle (ok ride the motorcycle, they hardly use any gas anyway). THAT will affect how much money they make. Not significantly, but maybe enough that they will notice. I'm still not convinced they will care, or do anything about it, but at least it will be something that produces some noticeable effect. I AM SICK OF GETTING THIS CRAP. *ahem* http://urbanlegends.miningco.com/culture/urbanlegends/library/weekly/aa030100a.htm Now for my rant... Yes, gas prices have risen drastically in the past few months. Trust me. it is not your oil company that is making the money. It's OPEC. The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries have tightened supply of petroleum in response to last summer's drastically low oil prices. Oil production was slashed by 2.1 million barrels of crude oil per day. This, combined with a natural increase in demand for oil in the spring (more people driving) lead to a severe increase in gas prices. The real question is: How does moving the day you purchase gas affect oil prices? Answer: It doesn't. It will just appear as a small blip in oil companies spreadsheets. I am, however, willing to predict that there _will_ be an oil production increase at the end of March. The current OPEC Production Quota agreement expires at the end of March, 2000. Because of the increase in oil prices, OPEC members will increase production to stem off inflation that the higher oil prices are going to cause. Think about it... Since prices are high, the countries are going to flood the market to try to get in on the good selling prices. This will increase supply, and drive prices down a little bit. It's sad too, because people are going to think that this lame idea actually had an effect on gas prices. And if you didn't understand what I said, find an economics professor at your local college and ask them about it. I hope that gas out becomes the big non-event that it should be, and that I don't have to deal with it in my inbox again. - -Paul Mischler Bridget wrote: > Subject: FW: GAS OUT DAYS! > > xoxoxo > bridget :) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Mar 2000 00:55:00 GMT From: "Angela Anuszewski" Subject: Re: OT Re: How about *First* Concerts?? owner-ammf@fruvous.com wrote on 3/10/00 6:00 pm: >>But what was your first >concert?
